Francis Ngannou Falls in Love with MMA Again

Francis Ngannou Emotional About his Child

Francis Ngannou is coming back to MMA for the first time since he left as the heavyweight champion at the start of 2023. Since then, he’s had a massive break of one year for different reasons, mainly the tragic death of his 15-month-old son. But after leaving the UFC, he still managed to sign a big contract with PFL.

As Francis accumulated experience in UFC, he also performed well in boxing where he lost a close decision to Tyson Fury, and then got knocked out by Anthony Joshua. Francis Ngannou is a big name in Combat Sports, so it’s not a big deal in terms of his career to lose a single match. He has plenty of opportunities to fight other guys. But for now, returning to MMA, and staying true to his commitment as a PFL fighter, is vital for Ngannou.

Eric Nicksicks Remarks on Francis’s Return

Eric Nicksick has been the head coach of Francis Ngannou for a long time. He’s always been extremely proud of Ngannou, and most importantly he believed that Francis would someday come back to MMA. “I didn’t think his MMA career was done because of the conversations that we have. I think just because of his competitive nature and the legacy that he wants to leave behind when it comes to MMA, the things that we spoke about, I felt like he was going to come back and fight,” Nicksicks stated.

Francis is going to fight in the Octagon after a long break from MMA. This fight is going to be a record-breaking fight for both the fans of MMA and Ngannou. PFL has now scheduled Ngannou’s first fight in the Octagon. Years ago, he fought against Ciryl Gane where he defended his UFC heavyweight title in January 2022. But since then, this will be his first MMA match.

The Main Event By PFL

The fight is scheduled for October 19. Moreover, PFL has announced it as its main event card, where he will face Renan Ferreira in a five-round event. Francis Ngannou has gone through a lot this year, but according to his coach Nicksick, the former UFC Heavyweight Champion is going to make a perfect comeback.

He lost boxing matches against Fury and Joshua, while the tragic loss of his son Kobe had a massive impact on his mental health. But this should be a fast recovery for someone who’s gone through this many tough losses. It’s a great decision to come back to MMA because it was the place that made Francis Ngannou famous as well as the heavyweight champion.

Big Opportunity for Renan Ferreira

This fight is also going to be a giant opportunity for Renan Ferreira because he’s already knocked out Ryan Bader who was the former PFL Bellator Champion. The coach of Francis Ngannou thinks that they simply cannot consider Ferreira as an easy opponent. Although Ngannou has much more experience and sharper fighting skills than him, it would be foolish to think of someone like him as an easy opponent after he’s won four consecutive fights.
