Francesco Bagnaia’s Aragon MotoGP Sprint Struggles

Francesco Bagnaia

Francesco Bagnaia won the Aragon MotoGP Sprint race but it was not smooth sailing for the reigning champion. Again, Bagnaia, whose season is performing exceptionally to lead the championship, complained of bad track conditions and bike performance. From the dirty side of the grid, he dropped to the sixth position almost instantly and never was able to get back to the top; he came in ninth place. His problems, combined with track problems and competitors’ performance, defined a tense and tough weekend for them.

A Rough Start and a Slippery Track

Starting from the dirty side of the track, it was a terrible start for Francesco Bagnaia. The rider was pushed down to the 6th position. By the second lap, he had passed Miguel Oliveira and Alex Marquez. However, he couldn’t get past Marc Marquez, Jorge Martin, or Pedro Acosta, staying stuck behind them. He had been chasing the riders in front of him and was the opposite, starting to slow down despite finishing in 9th place.

At the end of the race, Francesco Bagnaia signaled to his Michelin engineer and said he had the same issue he reported in the second practice session. He confirmed to MotoGP. com, telling them it was none of his doing and was not involved with the bike, the team, or his performance.

Struggles with Cornering and Track Conditions

Francesco Bagnaia shared, that he knew that something was amiss the moment he got to turn five of the track, and his bike did not feel right. Due to these two areas, his lap time was slow as he was having a hard time when entering the corners Also, his pace at the mid-corner was subpar. Bagnaia feels that he can challenge Jorge Martin if not for these issues. He also expressed displeasure with the track conditions, said the grid was dirty hampering the start, and called on the MotoGP management to clean the track before the race.

Marc Marquez Dominates: Francesco Bagnaia Faces Challenges

Whereas Francesco Bagnaia struggled, Marc Marquez tasted success in the Sprint race and topped all the sessions while emerging as the winner of his first race for Ducati. He also appreciated Marquez’s result; he said that Marquez was able to study better in the turn without sliding, which no other Ducati driver could do. Early in the year, Bagnaia struggled with his bike’s handling and braking system during the race but still intended to show a better performance in the upcoming races.

Francesco Bagnaia finished outside the podium, which enabled Jorge Martin to take a three-point lead in the MotoGP title race, with the full-length race coming on Sunday. Because of the extremely high temperatures that led to the blistering of the new Aragon asphalt in the sprint, Michelin stated that the soft rear tire would not be used in the Grand Prix. All riders will use medium rear and front tires on Sunday as they navigate the tough Aragon track.

His tough race adds more excitement to the battle for the MotoGP title, as he focuses on making a strong comeback in the Grand Prix.
