Two-time former UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno announced his break from MMA following his split decision loss against Brandon Royval at the UFC Fight Night 237 in Mexico City.
Moreno Takes A Break
Brandon Moreno announced his break from MMA on Monday, but he also made it clear that he would not be retiring just yet. He promises to be back in the octagon soon, ready to take on more challenges and more opponents. The ex-UFC champion posted an 8-minute video on his Instagram page on Monday, sharing this news with the world.
“(…) I feel like I’m at a point where I’m putting in the work. I’m dedicated, but the results just aren’t there, and it’s very frustrating. This is something that makes me very sad, but something that makes me who I am is that I always find a way to come back. I think with all the technical aspects aside, I think I’m just tired. I’m tired of the media, the same questions, the vibe, and the constant pressure. I don’t even think it’s a single moment anymore. I think it’s everything I’ve piled on my shoulders in the last few years.
“I’ve reached a point where my mind is stressed, and I just want to rest a bit. I’m not saying I’m 100 percent stepping away from MMA, but I want to take a break to rest, be with my family, and just be a normal person, be with my daughters and just do new things.
“There are many things I haven’t done because I’m 100 percent focused on my training. I just want to rest a bit. This is by no means a goodbye. Just wait for me, have patience, let my body and my mind recover, and we’ll come back to do things well (…),” Brandon Moreno said in Spanish.
He Will Return
The fighter has been a formidable opponent in the cage with a record of [21-8-2]. He has helped the flyweight championship belt twice after defeating Deiveson Figueiredo. Moreno held on for a four-fight series but was eventually dominated after a split-decision loss to Alexandre Pantoja. The athlete almost had a chance at regaining his title, but he lost the opportunity after losing his battle against Royval. Moreno will return eventually, but he has taken time off to rest and heal for now. Hopefully, Brandon Moreno will make an impressive comeback like he did the last time.
