Former India Star Criticizes Babar Azam, Calls Him “Selfish” Upon Shameful Performance

Hoping to end their T20I tournament on a high note, the team came into the match with great expectations after winning the recent T20I series against New Zealand. However, their strategies were poor, and they lacked proper teamwork, which led them to perform poorly and be eliminated early.
The team lost badly to the United States in the initial match and then bowed down to their traditional rivals, India, with whom they later faced defeat in the finals. Batsmen such as Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam did not come well and applied ineffective moments in the match.
When evaluated collectively, the team performed poorly, which was a clear indication of the need for drastic transformations in the course of team engagement. These are some of the key issues that will help overcome challenges in Pakistan and improve team performance in future international cricket tournaments.

A Severe hater says Babar Azam is a bullying captain

After Pakistan’s premature elimination, Babar Azam’s leadership was thoroughly criticized. Apart from that, in contributing to Babar Azam’s decision, former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel made certain unkind comments about Babar during a podcast episode during Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand, terming him ‘selfish’. Yusuf had gone on to share a clip of Parthiv Patel’s criticism on his sports-based Twitter account.

Parthiv mentioned Babar Azam’s leadership during an episode of the Cyrus Says YouTube show when they talked about another Pakistani batter, Fakhar Zaman. Parthiv also accused Babar Azam of putting pressure on the team in a bid to open bat, consequently creating an issue when Fakhar was moved to come and bat in a different position.

Quoting Mehrab. Captain wanted to open, so he had to come down. If the captain is a selfish player, there is no chance’.

The former cricketer remained unfazed when co-guest Saiyami Kher teased Parthiv about his bold comments and casually said that many Pakistan legends think likewise. “But I’ve told you all of this. It is not a new story. Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, everyone says that”

Fakhar Zaman’s struggles

Fakhar Zaman had a very poor show in the recently organized T20 World Cup, where Pakistan got eliminated early in the tournament. Zaman’s poor performance was an alarming note for the team, considering that he is one of the most important players for the team. In the four group matches Pakistan played, Zaman’s scores were as follows: 11, 13, four, and five.

What’s next for Pakistan?

At the moment, there are no more Pakistan-fixed international cricket fixtures until November, when Pakistan is due to visit Australia to play a limited-over series of three ODIs and three T20Is. However, this schedule may alter depending on the Pakistan Cricket Board’s confirmation of the Test series against Bangladesh, expected in August.

Pakistan cricket authorities will need to make strong comebacks in the upcoming months and prove their talents. The PCB will often have to take tactical steps in the selection of players, camp for training, and prepare matches to meet all odds for the team ahead.

The major emphasis is most likely to be laid on the preparation of a well-knit team capable of delivering its best in one day, as well as the test match formats. There is also a need to completely change the narrative of how Pakistan plays in the T20i.
