After going 6-7 (9th in the Big 12) in 2023, the University of Central Florida is getting some potentially big help at the wide receiver position. Agiye Hall, formerly of the University of Alabama and the University of Texas, has enrolled at the school as a preferred walk-on.
Hall, a 6’3″, 196-pound pass catcher, is a native of Valrico, Florida – a little over an hour away from the UCF campus. After a couple of stops at major programs, he could end up being a diamond in the rough for the Knights. He was a four-star prospect at Bloomingdale High School and rated as one of the top 50 recruits in America in 2021.
It wasn’t long before Hall would sign on the dotted line with the powerhouse Crimson Tide. Nick Sabin’s team had once again won a National Championship, lost plenty of players to the NFL, and was looking to re-fill the cupboard. Hall was a perfect fit.
However, Agiye Hall‘s journey has taken a couple of detours since making the jump to NCAA football and Alabama. The Chesapeake, Virginia, native has had a bit of a curvy path on his way to Central Florida.
A Top Prospect at Alabama and Texas
There were high hopes for Hall when he traveled to Tuscaloosa. On both the part of the program and the player himself.
“I’ve been watching Calvin Ridley and Julio Jones; a lot of people compare me to those two,” Hall told Sports Illustrated All-American at the time. “I saw how they progressed and helped the Alabama offense, and I feel like I’m going to be the same.”
“The feeling with Alabama got better and better,” Hall added. “I’m thinking a little bit harder about the situation that I’ve been in, like all the great things recruiting has brought me. I know this is the best decision for me.”

Unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way, and Hall found himself transferring to Texas after limited playing time as a freshman at Alabama. But, trouble arose in Austin as well.
Hall was suspended indefinitely by Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian after he was arrested on a criminal mischief charge. According to Travis County records, Hall was arrested by UT police and charged with a Class B misdemeanor after allegedly doing $600 worth of damage to a vehicle boot.
“We’re aware of the situation involving Agiye Hall, have talked with his family, and have suspended him from all team activities for conduct that is detrimental to our program,” a statement from the Longhorns program read.
Still, there was hope that Hall could contribute to Texas’ on-field success.
“As far as Agiye goes, obviously it’s been a bit of a journey since he’s been here,” Sarkisian said in October 2022. “He’s had some ups and had some downs. At this moment in time, if we can preserve his redshirt I think that would be in the best interest of him and the best interest of us.”
But Hall chose to depart the program instead.
First Alabama. Then Texas. Those are two major programs where the once-promising pass catcher washed out.
A New Horizon at Central Florida
Hall will now seek a fresh start in Orlando, Florida, the home of Disney. And he’s wishing on a star that he can find some of his old magic as a member of the University of Central Florida Knights.

With a career consisting of four catches for 72 yards in seven games played, Hall doesn’t have a whole lot of highlight film at the collegiate level. But it’s his potential that will surely have the UCF coaching staff keeping their eye on him as he looks to find a home in Orlando.
UCF will open the 2024 season against New Hampshire in late August, with the time and date to still be determined.
