Florida State Gets Generous CFP Prediction

The Florida State Seminoles earned a bold prediction from ESPN. ESPN predicts that Florida State will earn the No. 3 overall seed and be the ACC Champion. As long as FSU finishes as one of the four highest-ranked conference champs, though, it will earn a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff. Florida State will go to Ireland for the first game of the season against Georgia Tech. According to DraftKings, Florida State is a 10.5-point favorite over Georgia Tech, with the over/under set at 55.5. How will the Seminoles fare this season?

ESPN Gives Florida State Top 3 Finish

Last season FSU went 13-0 and won the ACC Championship, however, the CFP left out FSU for a pair of teams who lost one game each. The committee made this decision based on FSU losing Quarterback Jordan Travis, which kept FSU out of the playoffs for a shot at the National Championship game.

Only two ESPN analysts, including the guest analyst Sheamus, picked Florida State to win the ACC. The other four analysts picked a different school. Among the others was Nick Saban who chose the Seminoles. Desmond Howard picked Miami and Pat McAfee picked Virginia Tech.

The Georgia Bulldogs enter the season ranked No. 1 in the country with Ohio State at number two and Oregon at the number three spot in the country. Now, Florida State coming into the season ranked No. 10 and getting a generous prediction from ESPN. They have a lot to prove this season with new Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei.

He comes into the season from a transfer from Clemson where he started last season and played against the Seminoles. Uiagalelei comes to Florida State looking to prove he is worthy of being a high draft pick in the NFL Draft. He will get his chance in Ireland against Georgia Tech for the Seminoles in the first game of the season.

Final Thoughts

Since ESPN gave Florida State a generous prediction with a top three seed in the College Football Playoff, they now have to live up to the standards with a new quarterback at the helm. Head Coach Mike Norvell has all the confidence in Uiagalelei to help the team follow up on a great season last year. If FSU has a good season again, the CFP will have to give them a shot this year to play for the national championship.

FSU fans will never forget how they got robbed by not being picked to go to the playoffs last season. FSU players will have great motivation this season to prove the CFP wrong and hold onto ESPN’s prediction of their team.
