Florida Panthers Keep Winning On the Road

The Florida Panthers played a great game against the Buffalo Sabres.

The Florida Panthers visited the Buffalo Sabres Monday night. The Panthers gave the Buffalo Sabres much trouble during the game. The Sabres got into penalty trouble as well where the Panthers capitalized on opportunities. Poor play by the Buffalo Sabres caused them to lose and they could not keep up with the Florida Panthers. The Panthers would take this game 5-2 with Captain Alexsander Barkov returning to the lineup. Florida Panthers Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky shut the door on the Sabres and gave them no chance to come back in the game.

Florida Panthers Dominate Monday Night

The Florida Panthers came into Monday night’s game as heavy favorites and they did not disappoint. The Panthers dominated most of the game against the Buffalo Sabres. The Panthers had numerous power plays and were successful on 2-of-4 power plays. Goal scorers for the Florida Panthers were Sam Bennett, Carter Verhaeghe, Alexsander Barkov, Jesper Boqvist, and Sam Reinhart. Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky shut the door and stopped 24-of-26 shots for a save percentage of .923.

The goals by the Buffalo Sabres came in the second period where they scored once on the power play and tied the game 2-2. The goal scorers for the Sabres were Rasmus Dahlin and a power play goal by Jason Zucker. After the two quick goals by the Buffalo Sabres, the Florida Panthers quickly shut them down which led to poor play and bad penalties taken by the Sabres.

The Panthers Played a Great Game

The three stars of the game were Sergei Bobrovsky, Sam Bennett, and Sam Reinhart. Barkov had a great game returning after injury and missing a few weeks due to a lower-body injury. Barkov had a goal and an assist in last night’s game. Bennett continued his hot start to the season and has eight goals on the season. This is the best start to his career and he will look to keep it rolling in Finland.

The Florida Panthers had over 30 shots on goal in the game, while the Buffalo Sabres had 26 shots on goal and showed frustration, took bad penalties, and could not figure out Bobrovsky. The Buffalo Sabres fell to 4-5-1 on the season and the Florida Panthers will head to the Global Series against the Dallas Stars at 7-3-1.

Final Thoughts

The Florida Panthers are 7-3-1 on the season and are on a three-game winning streak heading into Finland. The Panthers beat the New York Rangers, New York Islanders, and now the Buffalo Sabres. Head Coach Paul Maurice can’t be any happier about how his team has started the season. The Florida Panthers power play is much improved this season, they rank 15th overall in the NHL and their penalty kill is at 89.3% which ranks fourth in the NHL. The Florida Panthers have a few days off before heading to the Global Series and playing back-to-back games against the Dallas Stars.
