Recap: Florida Panthers-Boston Bruins

The Florida Panthers won their second game of the season on Monday afternoon at TD Garden against Atlantic Division rivals Boston Bruins. The only two wins this season came from beating the Bruins. The goal scorers for the Florida Panthers were Sam Reinhart and Anton Lundell both had a pair of goals to put the Bruins away.

Sergei Bobrovsky had 24 saves with 27 shots against. “It was an important game and important win,” Bobrovsky said. “I thought guys worked very hard for each other without, you know, key guys out.” Adam Boqvist and Gustav Forsling both each grabbed an assist in the game as well for the Panthers.

The Boston Bruins had goals by Mason Lohrei and John Beecher who each had a goal and an assist. Along with Brandon Carlo who also scored for the Bruins. Mark Kastleic had three assists in the game and Jeremy Swayman made 22 saves. Bruins Head Coach Jim Montgomery said “We can’t lose as many battles as we do, I mean, Florida is the standard right now in the NHL for winning battles, and we’re not up to that level yet. We have to vastly improve that level.”

Panthers Get the Job Done

Sam Reinhart played his 700th NHL game and gave the Florida Panthers a short-handed goal and a powerplay goal. Reinhart is picking up right where he left off last season with 57 goals. Reinhart has been a big part of the Panthers offense and goal-scoring for the past two seasons. He will need to continue with the lineup in some temporary changes.

Head Coach Paul Maurice said. “We didn’t like our last game. Whether you win or lose, you have to aspire to look the same way every night if you can. We were back to looking the way we should look.” The Florida Panthers will play another game Tuesday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets and will look to get into a winning streak and come home Friday with a successful road trip.

Final Thoughts

The Florida Panthers are 2-2 on the season so far in the NHL season. They will play their last road game tomorrow night against the Columbus Blue Jackets and hope to be 3-2 and 2-2 on the road this season. After Tuesday night the Panthers will have a few days off while heading home and playing Friday against the Vancouver Canucks. The Florida Panthers will look to the positives that happened against the Bruins and build off that success with their top two stars out of the line: Alexsander Barkov and Matthew Tkachuk.
