Finally A Win For Pakistan!!! Men in Green Beat Canada by 7 Wickets in New York: T20 World Cup 2024

Former Pakistani Player Expresses Disappointment Over Babar Azam's Team's Performance

Canada’s inexperienced batsmen surrendered against Pakistan’s dangerous pace. It resulted in yet another low score in the Twenty20 World Cup, as Pakistan secured its first win on Tuesday. This brilliant win keeps PAK’s little chance of qualifying in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup alive.

Chasing a 107-run winning goal, Rizwan finished unbeaten on 53 off 53 balls with two fours and a six. His 29th T20 international half-century. While Babar hit 33 off the same number of balls with one four and a six. Before that, Pakistan restricted Canada to 106-7. However, Canada’s opener Aaron Johnson hit his sixth international fifty.

Pakistan Ruins All Efforts of Canadian Batsmen

Canada concluded on 106 for 7 in 20 overs. But Johnson led the way after Pakistan won the toss and chose to field. Twenty-one of the Canadian runs came in the first and final overs. PAK (1-2) still needs to defeat No. 11 Ireland (0-2).

However, this match can increase their run rate and hope that the 18th-ranked United States (2-0) loses its final two matches to advance. Top-ranked India (2-0) and the United States play on Wednesday. The winner will qualify for Super Eight and the loser will still be in an excellent position to join them.

“It was challenging to bat, particularly early on. “It’s not a good toss to lose,” remarked Canadian captain Saad Bin Zafar. “But I must say Pakistan spinners bowled really very well.”

Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir was chosen man of the match after capturing two wickets for 13 runs in four overs. “To be honest, that was a much-needed win.” Mohammad Amir stated.

How Canadian Batters Struggles Against Pakistan

Canada, making their T20 championship debut, had just beaten No. 11 Ireland by 12 runs. The Canadians lost the tournament opener by seven wickets to the United States. “We are not just here to participate in the tournament,” Johnson stated before the match against Pakistan.

Johnson followed it up with straight fours to begin an 11-run over. But the PAK’s bowlers got their groove. And Canada was at 30 for 2 at the end of the six-over powerplay. Despite early departures for Navneet Dhaliwal (four runs) and Pargat Singh (two).

In a misunderstanding with Johnson, Canada lost the in-form Nicholas Kirton. He was run out for one in the seventh over. Johnson had scored 34 of Canada’s first 50 runs. In the tenth over, Pakistan pace bowler Haris Rauf dismissed Shreyas Movva and Ravinderpal Singh.

Pakistan’s star pacer, Haris Rauf took his 100th and 101st wickets in T20 cricket. Canada was 55 for five halfway through the innings, with Johnson and Zafar attempting to calm the ship. The Canadians were given a respite when Johnson was dropped in the 12th over.

Pakistan was 28 for just 1 at the end of the six overs powerplay. It allowed teams to deploy only two players beyond the 30-yard circle. The score was 59 for one after 10 overs.

Dillon Heyliger claimed two wickets for Canada. Canada made one change to the starting lineup, with Singh replacing Dilpreet Bajwa. Saim Ayub replaced Iftikhar Ahmed in PAK’s batting lineup, taking the No.2 slot.

Canada’s 137 versus Ireland was the greatest score in the previous six games at Nassau County Stadium. Both Canada and Pakistan go to Lauderhill, Fla., for their final Group A matches. Probably, Canada will face India on Saturday, and Pakistan will face Ireland on Sunday.
