Fearless Bills Outlast Cardinals In Week 1 Win

Buffalo Bills outlast Arizona Cardinals 34-28

The Buffalo Bills outlasted the Arizona Cardinals 34-28 in the first game of the regular season. Self-inflicted wounds caused the Bills to go down 17-3 in the first half, but the team rallied to get back into the game. Penalties and not getting off the field on third downs were the cause for concern in the first half of the game for the team.

Self-inflicted wounds were the story early on in the first half for the Bills as they trailed 17-3 late in the second quarter. Adjustments on defense by Defensive Coordinator Bobby Babich were pivotal for the Bills to escape what would have been their third week one loss in the last four seasons. The team applied pressure and contained Kyler Murray towards the second half of the game.

The momentum started shifting, and the Bills regained confidence, outlasting the Cardinals as the game went on. Overall, hats off to the Cardinals for an excellent game plan. While the Bills defeated the Cardinals, they will be a tough team to beat this season.

Greg Rousseau Shines

The offense of the Arizona Cardinals was pulverizing the Buffalo Bills in the first half of the game. RB James Connor and QB Kyler Murray were moving the ball down the field with ease. The Bills finally got their break when DE Greg Rousseau created a strip sack to give Buffalo the momentum going into the second half. Overall, Rousseau had six tackles and three sacks in the game. In a year where he needs to break out and showcase why he deserves a contract extension from the Bills, it is significant for him to start the season hot.

Final Thoughts

With a quick turnaround, the Bills will travel down to South Florida to take on division rival Miami Dolphins. The team will need to prepare for stopping superstar WR Tyreek Hill, WR Jaylen Waddle, and the fast-paced offense of the Dolphins. The Dolphins outlasted the Jaguars 20-17 on a Jason Sanders field goal to win the game. The Bills are currently waiting on X-rays from franchise QB Josh Allen’s hand. Allen fell on his hand after scoring on his second rushing touchdown of the game. A short week and rest are much needed for the first Thursday Night Football matchup on Amazon Prime.

It seemed as if the Bills were out of rhythm early in the game on both offense and defense. With over 40% of their roster being new faces, starting quicker will be important for the team on Thursday against the Dolphins. The race for the AFC East crown will start heating up early this season with the first divisional game of the season.
