While the young Pakistan cricket team is all set for the second T20I against England at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham on Thursday. 34-year-old Fakhar Zaman, the left-handed opener, made no bones in asserting that his team knew they could beat any team in the world.
In a post-match interview following the series against South Africa, Zaman stressed the fact that they have a clear perspective for the 2024 T20 World Cup, and every player was well aware of his position in the team. Pakistan Cricket is ready to give stiff competition to all other teams in the upcoming T20 World Cup with renewed strategies and a lot of confidence in its players.

During a news conference on Friday, Fakhar Zaman pointed out the team’s preparation and the importance of proper preparation as the key to success. As for the World Cup, Fakhar Zaman said: ” Everything is set for the World Cup; people say a lot of things in the media. Every player, including me, knows his status well; we are strong enough to beat anyone in the world. ”
He noted that it was a change of gear concerning the team’s approach to their matches being so defensive, contrary to their normal form in T20 internationals. Altogether, as a team, we understand that only if we wish to be able to win the ICC Cricket World Cup, we need to play attacking cricket. In our case, in particular, if we are given the toss, i.e., if we are to bat first, we know that we have to score at least 200 runs.

This change of plans was brought about by a rude awakening during their previous series against Ireland, in which Pakistan dropped the first T20I. Fakhar Zaman also pointed out the severe merging that took place after this defeat. Replacing Philander would be another story altogether.
But that decision was taken after losing the first T20I to Ireland and after having to consider the reality of having to play against a full-strength England before the cup.
