As racers and fans prepare for round seven of the 2024 F1 Grand Prix on May 17-19, people are reminded of the shocking news that the seven-time world champion driver, Lewis Hamilton, delivered before the beginning of the season.
Each racer is certainly in for a ride this year (pun intended). As “Trouble in Paradise” has already hit and the standings for the season so far are released, there are only two questions that can be asked.
Who will be the winner of Formula 1 in 2024? And will it be Lewis Hamilton?
We can only wait and see as the season, is only just getting started.
F1: Ferrari 2025
Hamilton announced that with the end of this year’s F1 season, he will be moving over and starting a brand-new contract with Ferrari in 2025, leaving behind Mercedes.
When asked why this big decision was chosen after being with Mercedes for a long time, he stated it was time for a fresh start and that he was excited to start his new journey with Ferrari.
Along with this move, Lewis Hamilton will now become a teammate of Charles Leclerc, a racer who has been with Ferrari since 2019.
While everyone will remember the amazing partnership between the two, never forgetting all the accomplishments Mercedes and Hamilton achieved, people are excited for his new adventure in the following year, hoping that this year will be a good farewell to Mercedes.
Fans are also saying that with this new leap Hamilton has taken, he might be able to set new records for the F1 community.
Trouble in Australia
As the Australian Grand Pix started on March 22- 24, our seven-time champion had been on the short end of the stick after qualifying in 11th place at the beginning of the weekend.
Sunday brought no improvement for the racer. Only the 3rd round into the F1 season, the 39-year-old’s car had shut down during lap 17 of the race, deemed because of the engine failure. Being the second racer to drop out of the Melbourne race because of car malfunctions, Hamilton suffered a major loss that weekend.
As his last F1 season with Mercedes before starting with Ferrari in the 2025 season, fans hope things improve for Hamilton for the rest of the season.
Current Standings
With just a few races into F1, everyone is excited to see how the standings will even out and who will come out on top. As the youngest driver to start racing, at 17 years old, now 26, has a standing of 4 wins, 6 poles, and 136 points, Max Verstappen is in the position of first place.
Sergio Perez, who had set the fast time for a lap in the race seven different times, holds second position standing with 103 points.
Charles Leclerc, with so far five wins in his Formula 1 career, is placed in third position with 98 points.
And with his standing in fourth place in the 2024 season is Lando Norris. His honorable mention is that at the Miami Grand Prix, Lando was able to make his first win on May 5th.
Many of the racers congratulated him on the win, Hamilton being one of the first. With his win and 83 points in his belt, Norris is up for a good F1 season.
While Lewis Hamilton is so far in 9th place with 27 points, fans will continue to watch the races as he, hopefully, climbs up the ranks.
As the races continue, there might be history in the making this year and personal goals being accomplished. With 18 rounds left in the races, players will move up and down in the ranks. Points will change and hopefully, the number of crashes and car malfunctions will stay down to a minimum.
The excitement of this year will be one to remember for the players and teams, as well as the fans who seem to be on the edge of their seats for each race.
