Numerous young players have received attention during the current international tournaments occurring simultaneously this year. The Euro 2024 tournament in Germany has seen tons of updates and interesting results like England narrowly beating Switzerland on nail-biting penalties and huge upsets the fans never saw coming.
On the other side of the world, Copa America has provided fans with incredible games and spectacular results, like the U.S. losing their battle within their respective Group and failing to make it to the knockout stages.
Along with unpredictable results and interesting games, there have been a few stand-0ut plates in both tournaments that have turned heads. Will these players get signed by a big-name club after their performance this summer, or will they stay at their current club for another season?
Euros – Joshua Zirkzee – Netherlands
For a player who wasn’t even on the initial squad for his country, he has sure made an impact and gotten the attention of big-name clubs after being named Netherlands’ #9 heading into the Euros. Due to injuries on the squad list, Zirkzee was called in to fill the shoes of Brobbey to see if he could spur the Dutch players on to a victory in the Euros 2025 tournament.
Now, he has attracted the eyes of many clubs in Europe, like Manchester United and Arsenal in the Premier League, along with Juventus and AC Milan in Serie A. Even Bundesliga clubs like Bayern Munich are considering putting down a pretty penny for Zirkzee heading into 2025.
However, he may not be able to go anywhere and could stay at his current club, Bologna, due to the hefty release clause in his contract.
Euros – Alvaro Morata – Spain
Spain has one of the most promising young strikers in the world right now with Morata. Morata, who currently plays at Atletico in Spain In La Liga, could be looking to go elsewhere for around $15 million in his release clause. If a Serie A club, like Juventus, or another potential suitor, like AC Milan or AS Roma, can afford the clause, he could be going elsewhere in Italy for the 2024-2025 season.
Euros – Theo Hernandez – France
Hernandez has been one of the most talked about players in the Euros so far, as he has made a huge difference between the French national team and his current club team, AC Milan, during the international tournament. He is an all-around player who can help his team defend the net, transition quickly to attack, and prevent set-piece goals.
He is unsure about what will happen in the next few years of his playing career, but one thing is certain — he has a contract at AC Milan until 2026, so it seems as if he is staying put until then.
Euros – Xavi Simons – Netherlands
A young player who has always had a lot of hype around him in the footballing world is Xavi Simons, a young Dutch player who previously played for Barcelona and PSG, but could be headed to the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich or RB Leipzig on loan for the upcoming season.
Copa América – Alejandro Garnacho – Argentina
Garnacho hopes to follow in Messi’s footsteps as one of the best soccer players in the world who has represented his national team. He was a huge footballer for Manchester United and has made an impact throughout his club career. At just 20 years old, he could be the future of football in South America.
