Euro 2024 Top Candidates to Win Player of the Tournament

After watching the majority of the Euro 2024 games, albeit the upcoming final against England who got in by the skin of their teeth, and the tiki-taka team of Spain, many pundits, commentators, players, coaches, and fans have thoughts about who should be included in the team of the tournament. There have been stand-out players in the game, youngsters who have shown their worth, and veterans who have shied away from the spotlight.

Who will come out as the best of the best?

Euro 2024 Team of the Tournament Nominees

Looking at the backline for the team of the tournament in the Euro 2024 competition in Germany, there are a few names that stand out to all viewers.

Toni Kroos, one of the most elite players to ever suit up their boots and put on the German jersey, wasn’t only a favorite among the Euro 2024 group, but also showed his athleticism, tactical awareness, and leadership during the Champions League Final. Against a tough side, he stepped up when his team needed him to and showed his confidence and coolness in his skills.

Another defender who could be nominated for the team of the tournament is Virgil van Dijk, the Dutch stalwart backline member who plays for Liverpool FC in the Premier League. He is one of the best for the Oranje, which is saying a lot considering they have big-name stars like Xavi Simons and Frenkie de Jong.

For midfielders, we have to say that Jude Bellingham is up for contention. Although he has had a quieter tournament than some may have thought, considering his incredible season for Real Madrid in La Liga, he has still proven his worth. His bicycle kick goal turned everyone’s head and sent England through to the semifinals, which he can certainly take full credit for.

As an attacker, Phil Foden could be in the running. Similar to Bellingham, he has had a quieter tournament than many would have expected coming off of winning the Premier League Player Of the Year, but he has still had an impact. Even in a quiet game, he still takes players on 1v1 on the dribble, whips in crosses, and sends defenders to the ground with his unbeatable dribbling control.

One dark horse that nobody would have seen coming is Yamal in Spain. At just 16 years old, he is the youngest player in the tournament — but he sure doesn’t play like he is. He is confident on the ball, provided an assist for Spain in their last game which sent them to the final, and beats defenders on the dribble consistently. His ability to use both feet, his speed, and his technical ability are arguably the best in the world for a kid his age — and one of the best in the world on the international stage, too.

Euro 2024 Predictions

The upcoming Euro 2024 final features England vs. Spain in the last match to see who will take home the crown. Although England had a fantastic goal from Bellingham, and a nail-biting last-minute screamer from Ollie Watkins to send them to the final, Spain has looked better all around this tournament. They have scored more than England, looked more dangerous in the final third, and kept possession against the opposing teams.

We think that Spain will come out on top to win the Euro 2024 competition.
