Enzo Maresca Heaps Praise on Jadon Sancho Over his Big Impact

Enzo Maresca

Enzo Maresca was pleased with his team’s performance after their 1-nil victory over Bournemouth. Christopher Nkunku gave Chelsea a hard-fought win over the Cherries. Enzo Maresca after the game had a lot to say concerning the game. Chelsea’s new signing Jadon Sancho had made a big impact, coming off the bench. The Manchester United loaned star had assisted Christopher Nkunku’s late-minute goal.

Chelsea had started their season poorly losing out to Manchester City at the Stamford Bridge. However, after the game, they’ve been impressive and improved in all round aspects. Their next game after City was a solid response to the loss, as they won 6-2 against Wolves. After that, they managed a draw against Palace. So far the Blues have been impressive, but there’s a lot for them to work on.

Chelsea’s Manager spoke about how influential Sancho was in their win. He also gave credit to Christopher Nkunku and Tosin Adarabioyo for their impact on the game. He said: “I think we start second half much better and Jadon helped us a lot but what he did tonight is exactly what we expected from him. As I said, I know Jadon very good because I watched him many, many times in the past and I know what he can give us. Then also Christoph [Nkunku] was very good and not just because he scored but because he fought without the ball and Jadon was exactly the same. Tosin [Adarabioyo] was very good.”

Maresca’s Comments on the 2nd Half

The Italian spoke about how the team’s 2nd-half performance improved. The first half was a struggle for the Blues. They managed to find their rhythm. However, in the 2nd half, they showed more hunger and aggression. He also mentioned the fact of our tough it is to play at the Vitality stadium.

Maresca said: “The performance second half changed completely but we need to learn this kind of thing if we want to build something important and we want to win games first of all we need the desire to win games, win duels and to fight together.”

He continued on the team’s analysis, emphasizing how they struggled with duels in the first half, and in the 2nd half, they were better.

He said: “I think we played two different games. I think first half we struggled and second half was much better. The reason why we struggled first half for me was because we didn’t win duels, we didn’t win second balls and in this stadium against this team first of all, you need to show the desire to win the duels and then also the tactical part is important but first of all you need to show that.”

He finally added, saying: “This was the message after 45 minutes to the players that in this kind of game, you have to finish the game with your t-shirt dirty because you need to fight. Second half I thought we were much, much better.”

What’s Ahead for Chelsea

The Blues will continue their League campaign next week against Westham. The Blues will face off against their London rivals for Premier League Gameweek 5. Enzo Maresca will be hoping his side can hold their own against their London rivals and possibly get the needed 3 points.
