Enzo Maresca ‘Not Happy’ Despite Chelsea’s Big Win

Chelsea Enzo Maresca

Enzo Maresca’s side had thumped Wolves in a 6-2 win. The Blues had a better response compared to the previous game against Man City where they lost 2-0 at home. Enzo Maresca who was full of positivity in their last week’s loss seemed very fulfilled for believing in the boys. However, something seemed to displease the Italians despite their big win.

The Chelsea boss had started Mudryk in their game against Wolves, moreover, the Ukrainian failed to impress after the first half resulting in Enzo Maresca removing him at the start of the 2nd half. After the game, the Italian was asked about his reasons for the decision, and he responded not being impressed by the Ukrainian.

Enzo Maresca was asked why he removed Mudryk early, he replied, “Because I was not happy. I think this is Mudryk, in terms of not only tonight but in terms of since he joined the club. I think he had some good moments and then some moments like flipping a coin. I think in some moments we can manage some situations better. He was working very hard off the ball and that was very good. But in terms of on the ball, I expect a bit more quality from Misha.”

“For me, he had some good moments the other day and some good moments today and the reason why was just because we needed to change and give Pedro [Neto] some minutes.”

Enzo Maresca on the Team’s Ambition

The Chelsea manager further added, “I want to see my team playing the way we want to play, compete every game; this is the most important thing. On the ball, to have a clear idea of what we want. Off the ball, to be a very aggressive team. In some moments today, we started to see our team in terms of our pressing. I feel very lucky. I feel very happy. I think the squad is very good. Many players are versatile and can play in different positions. And then we will see where we arrive but the most important thing is to be better game after game.”

What’s ahead for Chelsea

Chelsea are still looking to improve their squad before the transfer window ends. Especially in the center forward position. The Blue have made a lot of important signings ranging from Pedro Neto, Joao Felix, Marc Guiu, Tosin Adarabioyo, and many more. With their new coach Enzo Maresca, they’ll hope to utilize the best from the squad.

Their first game of the season saw them fall to City, moreover, their next game came with a better response. Chelsea will continue their 24/25 campaign in the Conference League playoff on Thursday. They’ll travel to Switzerland to play Servette in the second round of the playoff. The first round saw them win 2-0. They’ll resume back in the league on Sunday to play Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.
