Elite Mind Solutions Sues Kyrie Irving for Unpaid $390K Bill

Kyrie Irving

Elite Mind Solutions, a health and wellness company, has sued Dallas Mavericks Point Guard Kyrie Irving for an alleged unpaid $390,000 bill. Irving, 32, was named as the defendant in Elite Mind Solutions’ lawsuit, which was filed in New York on Monday. The plaintiffs, Elite Mind Solutions, accused Irving of failing to pay them and their high-profile therapist, Natasha McCartney, during the Spring of 2024 to work a family retreat for his family and friends from June 28 to July 2. How will this case resolve itself? Read on for further details.

Elite Mind Solutions vs. Kyrie Irving

Elite Mind Solutions vs. Kyrie Irving may or may not lead to a trial, but it’s a riveting case. According to TMZ, Elite Mind Solutions’ lawsuit stated Irving had said about 50-60 people would attend, but the plaintiffs alleged just days before the event began, the defendant informed them it’d be close to 115. The plaintiffs’ lawsuit stated that when they arrived at the retreat, there were around 150 people instead. TMZ contacted a lawyer representing Irving for comment, but no response.

Allegations Against Irving

Elite Mind Solutions claimed in their lawsuit that they performed all the therapeutic exercises and sessions as promised. The plaintiffs also claimed someone tragically died at the event and they performed crisis management services, as well as grief counseling services. The plaintiffs sent Kyrie Irving an invoice for $390,710 for the services, but Irving didn’t pay up. This resulted in the plaintiffs suing Irving, who has made over $300 million in his 13-year NBA career, for breach of contract. The plaintiffs are seeking the money they’re owed, interest, and attorneys’ fees.

Irving’s Current Contract in Dallas

Kyrie Irving has been playing in the NBA as a point guard since 2013. Irving’s professional basketball career began days after the Cleveland Cavaliers selected him with the first overall pick in the first round of the 2013 NBA Draft out of Duke, with whom he played college men’s basketball for a lone season. Fast forward to 2024, and Irving plays for the Dallas Mavericks.

Kyrie Irving signed a three-year, $120 million contract with the Mavericks during the 2023 NBA offseason. Irving’s contract isn’t so concerning on the court, as he has been dominating as one of the team’s top scorers so far this season, but off-court issues can affect his net worth. On paper, $390,710 looks like chump change for an NBA player like Irving. It is important to remember that 60% of NBA players face financial struggles after retirement, according to Sports Illustrated. If an NBA player files for bankruptcy, they typically do so within 7.3 years after retiring. As of 2022, Irving has already lost $16,894,030 in fines.

Previewing Tonight’s Contest

On the topic of Tuesday’s game, Irving is expected to return to the court after dealing with shoulder soreness. The Mavericks and Memphis Grizzlies will face each other in an important matchup in the American Airlines Center in downtown Dallas for the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup’s Group Stage at 7:30 p.m. Central. Dallas enters the home game with a 13-8 record on a four-game winning streak while Memphis heads into the away game with a slightly better record of 14-7 and a six-game winning streak in hand.

Dallas’ home-court advantage could work in its favor, but Dallas must find a way to somehow defeat Memphis, a team that often gives opposing teams a hard time. Memphis’ ability to force turnovers is one of the many abilities that work in its favor. Just refer to the Grizzlies’ home game vs. Indiana Pacers on Sunday, as Memphis forced 15 turnovers.
