Dustin Poirier Silences Michael Chandler after Win Against Hooker: ‘Shut Up’

Dustin Poirier Silences Michael Chandler

Dustin Poirier fought Michael Chandler in UFC 281, where Poirier came out victorious. Recently Chandler was celebrating his first-ever win in UFC. That win of Chandler was against Dan Hooker. The fight was dominated by Chandler when he bombarded his opponent with punches. That was the fight that made him so popular in UFC and after that, every fight he fought was a gate opening towards the Lightweight title.

Chandler appreciates his victories and was happy to say that he was able to KO the current, No.5 ranked fighter in UFC. Poirier replied to that on ‘X’ and he was not happy with the praising Chandler did of himself.

Dustin Poirier’s Reply To Chandler

Dustin Poirier's reply to Chandler

Chandler appreciates himself by saying, “KO of the #5 ranked guy who had just gone 25 min with the #2 ranked guy in a FOTN…but I ain’t done nothing.” Replying to that, Dustin wanted to say that he has fought a lot of high-ranked fighters so, Poirier should stop admiring himself and focus on the upcoming fights. Poirier has fought one of the most dangerous and most feared fighters of all time, known as Khabib Nurmagomedov. Including a lot of ranked fighters like rank #3, #5, #6, #9 and #12. Dustin Poirier said himself:

“Shut up, I got wins over the #3, #5, #6, #9 and #12 LWs.”

Dustin Poirier has dominated Justin Gaethje, Hooker, Chandler, Max Holloway, and Benoit Saint-Denis. He also fought Nurmagomedov but he wasn’t able to keep up with the Dagistani and because of the style and awesome grappling skills of the Dagistani, Poirier lost to Khabib. But that was not an easy win for Khabib as Dustin Poirier was the hard opponent. Other than Khabib, Dustin has also fought Islam Makhachev and gave him a tough time but he never talked about his accomplishments like Chandler and he addressed that to Chandler.

Long Rivalry of Chandler and Poirier

Dustin Poirier and Chandler have a long rivalry that dates back to UFC 281. Sometimes fighters are respectful towards each other in UFC but mostly they trash talk and try to dominate each other through words before the fight. Usually, it ends after the fight but the rivalry and trash-talking of these legends remain. If we look into the recent performance of Chandler and Dustin Poirier, Poirier has been performing much much better than Chandler.

He has been out of the Octagon for a long time and to much surprise it has been a year since he fought. The reason he’s out of the game is because he’s waiting for ‘The Notorious’, Conor McGregor to return and fight him. After a long time, he has got a chance to fight a famous figure. On the other side, Poirier has been fighting great champions and title holders to maintain his legacy.

Final Thoughts

To sustain the image in the Octagon and outside the Octagon as a fighter, a fighter has to fight for the title as a challenger or champion. But unlike Poirier, Chandler is just waiting for a fighter to come back, and McGregor is not even interested in the fight, and that is dangerous for the time and career of Chandler. Therefore as compared to that, Poirier is doing the right thing to do and he is likely to participate in more fights before he retires. What do you think about Michael Chandler and Dustin Poirier?
