Duke Blue Devils Guard/Forward Cooper Flagg is off to a historic start for a collegiate career. He has totaled 450 points, 150 rebounds, 100 assists, 40 steals, and 25 blocks through his first 25 games this season. This tremendous start has Flagg in great company.
The only other DI players this century to reach those marks through 25 games of a season are Dwyane Wade in 2002-2003 and Ben Simmons in 2015-2016. Flagg has been having a great season for Duke. He is averaging 19.8 points per game and 7.5 rebounds. He is 20th in the nation in scoring. Will Flagg be able to keep up his stellar play as the Duke Blue Devils look to continue playing well?

It has been a strong regular season for Flagg and the Blue Devils. They are 22-3 and 14-1 in the ACC. They were also ranked No. 3 in the most recent AP Top 25 poll. Their three losses this season have been against No. 19 Kentucky on a neutral court, No. 1 Kansas on a neutral court, and against Clemson on the road last week.
The Blue Devils, led by Flagg, have a great offense. They are 36th in points per game, 27th in field goal percentage, and 25th in three-point percentage. Duke’s defense has also been great. They are sixth in points allowed, seventh in opposing field goal percentage, and 90th in opposing three-point percentage. Duke was also ranked the No. 3 overall seed by the selection committee on Saturday.
Final Thoughts
Flagg and the Blue Devils return to the court this evening when visit the Virginia Cavaliers. Duke has a tremendous team with National Championship aspirations and Flagg is a slight favorite to win the John R. Wooden Award. If he could help lead the Blue Devils to a high seed in the NCAA Tournament, it would bode well for both he and the team.
