Borussia Dortmund emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 triumph over Paris Saint-Germain in their highly anticipated UEFA Champions League semi-final second-leg clash at the iconic Parc des Princes stadium in Paris on Tuesday. In a thrilling semi-final second-leg tie at the Parc des Princes, Mats Hummels’ second-half header secured another 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
This win, combined with Niclas Fullkrug’s winner on home soil a week ago, sealed a 2-0 aggregate victory. Borussia Dortmund will now have to wait to find out who will face them in the final on June 1 at Wembley. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich square off in the second semifinal match on Wednesday.
Dortmund Advance to UCL Final After Winning Against PSG
Dortmund emerged victorious against PSG, securing a spot in the final with a resounding 2-0 aggregate win. Mats Hummels, the veteran German defender, who scored the only goal of the night propelled his team to this historic achievement. Kylian Mbappe displayed incredible agility and was quick to create an opportunity that was saved in the early stages of the game. The Frenchman also provided opportunities for Vitinha and Dembele, but unfortunately, they were unable to capitalize.
Dortmund tried to grab the lead against the flow of play, but PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma denied Karim Adeyemi. PSG seemed to have been the better team in the first half, but Dortmund quickly turned the tables with a goal from Hummels. The 35-year-old defender scored an impressive header from a corner kick, giving Dortmund a 1-0 lead and a two-goal aggregate. Mbappe and Vitinha both hit the post, but it wasn’t enough to save PSG from a disappointing UCL exit.
The win is Borussia Dortmund’s first at PSG, and Edin Terzic’s team is in the UCL final for the first time since 2013.
The Dortmund contingent and traveling support were filled with jubilation after the game, with wild celebrations taking place. It came as a surprise to many when they made it to their third Champions League final. Bayern could play them again at Wembley on June 1. Their semi-final match against Real Madrid is tied at 2-2 before the decider tonight at the Santiago Bernabeu.

What Next For PSG In The Champions League?
PSG’s relentless attack proved fruitless as they fired an astonishing 45 shots throughout two legs. Luis Enrique’s side were denied by the woodwork on a staggering six occasions. Despite their determined efforts, the result remains a bitter pill to swallow. They will continue to wait a long time to win the biggest award in European club football. Kylian Mbappe, who has played his final Champions League game for the team will move to Real Madrid in the summer.
With another Ligue 1 title secured, Luis Enrique’s job may be at risk following this recent high-profile failure. It’s quite remarkable to consider that despite the significant investments made in recent times, PSG’s track record in the Champions League only includes one final appearance, which unfortunately ended in defeat against Bayern in Lisbon back in 2020.
