Donte DiVincenzo Performance Monday Night
DiVincenzo broke the record set by former guard and NBA champion J.R. Smith on April 6, 2014. He made a presuming 10th three-pointer with 5:04 left in the third quarter. However, the shot was negated since his foot was on the baseline. Afterward, DiVincenzo missed his next three shots before officially making his tenth three-pointer with 5:11 left.
New York’s sixth-year guard stayed in the game and hit the record-breaking three with 3:16 left. Following his incredible performance, DiVincenzo received a well-deserved ovation eleven seconds later from the Madison Square Garden fans. Alongside Donte DiVincenzo, New York received plenty of contributions from other team members.
Josh Hart finished his sixth triple-double with 11 points, 14 rebounds, and ten assists. Jalen Brunson scored 28 points, carving up the outplayed Pistons defenders. Miles McBride and Bojan Bogdanovic each scored 13 points, and Achiuwa grabbed 16 boards off the bench. Throughout the game, the Knicks never trailed the Pistons once.
What Happened Early?
The Knicks dominated early with a 20-0 run in which five players scored baskets. Donte DiVincenzo helped the Knicks lead by as many as 31 points in the second half. The New York Knicks are a real team fighting for a playoff spot with an intimidating defense. Anytime DiVincenzo touched the ball, the crowd would react like they would with ex-teammate Stephen Curry.
The Pistons (12-60) are cruising through for their chances at a maximum draft lottery. even at full strength, one could doubt that the league’s worst team could have a shot against the New York Knicks. The Knicks, at one point, had a 29-8 lead in the first quarter and stormed off from there.
The Pistons have lost seven straight games and were a glaring no-show Monday night. The team shot an abysmal 38.6 percent and gave up 46 points inside the rim. Additionally, the Pistons gave up 19 three-pointers, with Donte DiVincenzo making 11.
Conclusion
The New York Knicks will visit the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night, while Detroit will play the Minnesota Timberwolves.
