Dolphins: Super Star Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle Return To Practice

NFL fans vote Tyreek Hill top player in the league.

The Miami Dolphins have dealt with a multitude of injuries in the Mike McDaniel era. In their 2023-24 campaign, the Dolphins planned around injuries of multiple key players like tackle Terron Armstead, and cornerback Jalen Ramsey, and even lost star pass rusher Bradley Chubb for the postseason. To begin the 2024-25 season, it appeared the Dolphins were still in recovery from their battered 23′.

Through the preseason, the Dolphins failed to field their star speedster duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, until Monday, September 2nd.

Dolphins Duo Practices Together For First Time In 2024

Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle combined for 2,813 yards in 2023, topping the stats among receiver duos. Coming into their 2024 season, pesky injuries plagued both pass catchers. Tyreek Hill dealt with a thumb injury that postponed his practice participation through the preseason and joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Waddle has been dealing with injuries that haven’t been disclosed publicly, preventing him from playing in the preseason games and requiring him to wear a red non-contact jersey during the last week of preseason practices.

“Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said there weren’t any setbacks for either player. Neither wore a non-contact jersey during the portion of Monday’s practice open to the media.” Per Marcel Louis-Jacques, ESPN.

Just six days away from the Dolphins’ week one regular season bout against the Jaguars, the offense looks prepared to start hot again.

Tyreek Hill Gushes About Dolphins Potential

Tyreek Hill caught 119 receptions to fall just one yard shy of 1,800 receiving yards in 2023, earning Offensive Player of the Year while missing one game. Following his return to practice, Hill took time to mention the Miami Dolphins’ potential as a team.

This is the best team we’ve had since I’ve been here, Hill said, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. Great time to be alive. We are all excited. We’ve got a lot of weapons, lot of playmakers on this team. Everyone is on the very edge of their seats, waiting for this moment. . . . Tua has done a great job overcommunicating exactly what he wants as far as details on routes. Mike has given him the keys to the car. That gives all of us the ability to play free and be ourselves and be creative in our routes.

The Dolphins solidified their commitment to success by extending the contracts of multiple key figures in the offseason. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Jaylen Waddle, and head coach Mike McDaniel all received renewed contracts. Meanwhile, Tyreek Hill’s contract was adjusted to increase his guaranteed earnings in the future. These actions support team owner Stephen Ross’s claim that the Dolphins are serious Super Bowl contenders. Moves like these solidify Tyreek Hill’s confidence in his team.
