Los Angeles Dodgers Star Hits 3-Peat in Big Win Over Milwaukee Brewers

The Los Angeles Dodgers Edman

The Los Angeles Dodgers extend their wins to 54 against the Milwaukee Brewers on July 5th. This was on the same night as star Shohei Ohtani’s 30th birthday and a collaboration event with a Virtual YouTuber Agency.

Funny enough, Ohtani was not involved that much in their big win in Los Angeles, as four other players had hits, including Will Smith. He was the star of the night, as their catcher hit a grand slam in a stadium filled with Hololive fans in LA.

Hololive, under Cover Corporation, announced their partnership for this game last month, as they offered a ticket package that included limited edition training cards. There were also appearances by VTubers Gawr Gura, who is a part of their English Branch, and Usada Pekora and Hoshimachi Suisei, as they are both part of Hololive Japan.

Dodgers catcher Will Smith had himself a night on a very special occasion against the Milwaukee Brewers, who have 52 wins. The Dodgers are at the top of the NL West, while the Brewers are first in the NL Central. This was a huge win for Los Angeles, as Smith’s Grand Slam was the highlight of the game.

Despite Shohei Ohtani not recording a hit, enough of their players did enough to get a 3-score lead over Milwaukee in their first matchup. With a blockbuster contract, he has had a great season, despite the no-show in this game.

Previously, the Dodgers went 1-2 against the Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Francisco Giants. But Los Angeles finally caught a stride with this win over the Brewers in this comeback win after a 5-run fourth inning. With star Mookie Betts injured with a broken hand, shortstop Miguel Rojas has delivered as his replacement.

Three Players Besides Smith Finished with 2 Hits Each

First baseman Freddie Freeman, outfielder Teoscar Hernández, and second baseman Miguel Vargas all contributed with two hits. Outfielder Andy Pages also recorded a hit, a run, and a walk, with 4 at-bats. Ohtani was at-bat the most with 5, while Smith had the most runs with 4.

Shortstop Chris Taylor also had a run and a walk. Smith had 2 walks, while Vargas had one along with Gavin Lux, their second baseman. Smith led the team in RBIs with 3, Freeman and Vargas with 2, and Hernandez with one. Vargas, besides Smith, was the only one on the Dodgers to record a home run for Los Angeles.

Tyler Glasnow was their main pitcher with 6 innings, giving up 3 hits, 5 earned runs, and two walks, with 7 strikeouts. The Dodgers overcame a deficit when they were down by a run in the seventh inning.

Smith’s Grand Slam was Well-Timed with the Hololive

The biggest coincidence in this game was when Hololive’s Gawr Gura sang “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” at the top of the seventh inning. Los Angeles was down 5-4 against Milwaukee, as they came back to win 8-5. This was mostly in the eighth inning, as they scored four straight runs to get their 54th win. Smith’s three homers signaled one for each VTuber in a crazy twist of fate.

This was to end their two-game slide, as Smith cracked a homer in the first inning after Hololive made their appearance at the start of the game. The announcers introduced Gura, Pekora, and Suisei and welcomed them to Dodgers Stadium. Cover Corp. CEO Motoaki Tanigo aka “Yagoo” was at the game and they replaced the batter-out music with the iconic single, “Shiny Smily Story“.

This song was also played in the drone show that had some of their music in the background. It took place after the game but during the game, each VTuber had their appearance hyping up the crowd. It’s clear after the long merch line with one tent selling goods and the amount of Hololive fans there, Cover Corp. was not fully prepared for the overseas fans that packed the seats.
