DK Metcalf Requests a Trade From the Seattle Seahawks

DK Metcalf

Wide Receiver DK Metcalf has requested to be traded from the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle will reportedly honor the star wide receiver’s request and look to send Metcalf to a desired destination this offseason. He is coming off a solid regular season with 66 receptions, 992 receiving yards, and 5 receiving touchdowns. He had 1,000+ receiving yards in three of his six seasons in Seattle.

It has been a busy day for the franchise as they announced Wednesday they would release franchise legend Wide Receiver Tyler Lockett. It remains unclear if Metcalf’s trade request was tied to the team parting ways with Lockett or if it was merely a coincidence. Where will Metcalf be dealt to this offseason?

Good Fits For Metcalf

The star wide receiver will have many suitors this offseason. Chief among them are the Las Vegas Raiders. The franchise hired Pete Carroll to be their head coach this offseason. He and the star wide receiver have a relationship dating back to their time with the Seattle Seahawks.

Carroll drafted Metcalf in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Ole Miss. Other fits for the star receiver this offseason are the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers. Both teams would benefit from adding a receiver of his caliber.

Final Thoughts

Metcalf joins a crowded list of wide receivers that will be looking for a new home this offseason. He will be looking to latch onto a contender and hope that he is the missing piece on a contending team. It was time for the two-time Pro Bowler and the Seahawks to go their separate ways. The Seahawks are looking to get younger and move off veteran pieces this offseason.
