Diego Simeone

Diego Simeone’s side was able to breeze past Valencia in a 3-0 win. Goals from Conor Gallagher, Antoine Griezmann, and Julian Alvarez, punished Valencia. Atletico Madrid has also been in good form this season, however, one of their new signing Julian Alvarez has been on a struggle to find his feet. The Argentine had been involved in all five games, however, he has been unable to get a goal or an assist. In their game against Valencia, he finally ended the Goal drought in the 94th minute. His goal sealed Atletico Madrid’s win against Valencia.

Diego Simeone was very pleased with the team’s performance. He especially praised Julian Alvarez for his calmness and not being desperate to get a goal. He also hailed Conor Gallagher who has been involved everywhere on the pitch and crucial in the Madrid team.

The Argentine spoke very well of the Englishman who came from Chelsea. He was very happy with his performance. Simeone highlighted that the 24-year-old brought a lot of additions to their team, which brought about improvements. Simeone said, “He came with a lot of enthusiasm, and we needed that kind of player in the midfield because he makes us better, He does not stop giving his best in every game situation in which he participates.”

After Gallagher scored his first goal for the Club, Alvarez did the same in that game. The Former Manchester City star who signed for a huge fee had been struggling to find his feet and had not gotten himself on the scoresheet until yesterday. He scored the third in the 90th minute. Simeone believes his goal will usher him into a flood of more goals.

The Argentine said: “We all needed him to score a goal, for him to be more relaxed, to be connected to what he likes… hopefully the goal will be the first of many, I imagine that he lives for the goal and the enthusiasm to generate this type of situation. Today he appeared as he always does at the least expected moment at the end of the game when hope seems to be fading and, luckily, he scored.”

What’s Ahead for Atletico Madrid

Diego Simeone’s side currently sits second on the La Liga table with Barcelona on the top. Atletico Madrid has drawn two out of the five La Liga games. They drew Villarreal 2-2, and also Espanyol. However, they won Girona, Bilbao, and Valencia. Ahead of them is the UCL.

They’ll host Leipzig a very tricky German side on Thursday. Diego Simeone will hope his side can continue their winning form against the German side. After they’ll travel to Spain to play Rayo Vallecano on Sunday. Simeone will desire a big win to help put a strong pressure on the Catalans at the top of the table.
