Philadelphia Eagles Wide Receiver DeVonta Smith Out For Critical Week 13 Game

DeVonta Smith

NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo reported earlier today that Philadelphia Eagles Wide Receiver DeVonta Smith will be out for this afternoon’s game on the road against the Baltimore Ravens. This will be his second straight missed game with a hamstring injury. The Eagles grew pessimistic they would be without the star receiver for this inter-conference showdown.

Following a pregame workout, Smith was ruled out a few hours before kickoff. The team expects him to possibly return next week at home against the Carolina Panthers. Smith has 41 receptions for 516 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns this season. How will the Eagles fare without Smith this afternoon?

Eagles Look To Keep Rolling Without Smith

The marquee game of the day will be the 9-2 Philadelphia Eagles visiting the 8-4 Baltimore Ravens. Philadelphia is one of the NFL’s hottest teams as they are winners of seven in a row. Only the Detroit Lions, winners of 10 straight, are hotter than the Philadelphia Eagles. An Eagles defense that struggled through the first four weeks of the regular season has gotten back on track over their winning streak. The defense has allowed 17 points or fewer in four of their last seven games.

Philadelphia’s offense, led by Quarterback Jalen Hurts and Running Back Saquon Barkley, has been one of the league’s best units over the past two months. Barkley is first in the league in carries and rushing yards while fourth in rushing touchdowns this season. Hurts is ninth in the league in QBR and has 18 total touchdowns over Philadelphia’s seven-game winning streak.

Even though Smith will not suit up today, Hurts has found great success connecting with Wide Receiver A.J. Brown. Brown has three 100-yard receiving games during the winning streak. Philadelphia will look to keep winning without one of their most important players.
