Detroit Tigers Starting Pitcher Reese Olson continues to impress during the 2024 regular season. He put forth a masterful performance on Saturday afternoon at home against the Toronto Blue Jays as Detroit won a low-scoring affair, 2-1. He tossed 6.2 scoreless innings while striking out four. Olson escaped a bases-loaded jam unscathed in the top of the fifth inning by getting Blue Jays Designated Hitter Justin Turner to strikeout and end the threat.
The Detroit Tigers bullpen surrendered only three hits over 2.2 innings in relief of Olson. Olson lowered his ERA to a minuscule 1.92(fifth-best in MLB) following today’s start and picked up his first win of the year. The 24-year old right hander has gotten no help whatsoever from his offense as he has struggled all season to get run support. Olson has seven starts this season surrendering two earned runs or fewer this season that have resulted in either a loss or a no decision.

Olson made his debut in 2023 with the Detroit Tigers. He was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 13th round of the 2018 MLB June Amateur Draft. He made his way to Detroit in 2021 in exchange for Relief Pitcher Daniel Norris.
Olson has a career record of 5-12 with an ERA of 3.40.

Detroit has an off-day on Monday before welcoming the Pittsburgh Pirates to town for a quick two-game series.
