Detroit Pistons Making Massive Changes In Their Front Office After Disappointing 2023-24

Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons began the season with hope. Their star, Cade Cunningham, was back from injury, and they had a great collection of young talent ready to compete. New head coach Monty Williams had recently been to an NBA Finals. The team was shooting for a playoff spot in a weaker Eastern Conference. The season turned out to be a disaster. They had a historic 28-game losing streak and will be picking in the lottery once again. According to reports, the team is looking to make some changes in the front office.

Detroit Pistons Front Office Changes

Currently, the Detroit Pistons do not have a President of Basketball Operations. According to NBA insider Shams Charania, that will change. They will hire someone for the position, and the search will begin next week. This puts the fate of GM Troy Weaver and head coach Monty Williams at stake. While they are employed now, a new voice could decide to go in a different direction.

Many fans have been furious with Weaver and Williams. The roster moves have been questionable at times, and Williams made some head-scratching moves in the rotation this year. The Detroit Pistons do not lack talent, but they need to start producing, or this franchise could be in for another rebuild soon.

Who Should The Pistons Target?

There are two names to watch for the Detroit Pistons. The first is Jon Horst, who is currently the GM of the Milwaukee Bucks. That team is a bad series loss away from blowing it all up. Horst has been one of the best executives in the NBA over the past five years. He is from Sandusky, Michigan and held the position for the franchise briefly from 2007 to 2008. John Hammond is the other name to watch. He has spent time with Milwaukee and Orlando and successfully built those franchises up to compete for championships.

The Detroit Pistons need to do something. They have too much talent to be this bad. A franchise that came into the season with high hopes is now left with a thousand questions.
