With the NFL season two months away, Detroit Lions legend Calvin Johnson will be honored by the organization. In a non-surprising move, the Lions will celebrate the longtime Lions receiver on September 30th, during a homecoming week against Seattle. Lions fans will see the event’s festivities on Monday night along, with an exciting match-up.
Calvin Johnson meant a lot to the team, being one of the best receivers in the franchise’s history. Along with breaking various amounts of team records, Johnson also was excellent at breaking NFL records. The Hall of Famer was also the second Lions player in franchise history to be in the Hall of Fame.

A Detroit Lions Legend Celebrated For Homecoming
During the upcoming NFL season, the Detroit Lions will have a homecoming night on September 30th and will honor all of their legends. Among those legends is their franchise leader in receiving Calvin Johnson. Johnson or as fans call him, Megatron was drafted from Georgia Tech in 2007 by the team and had been a major player for them in the 2000s.
During his nine-year career with the Lions, Johnson had amassed 11,619, 731 receptions, and 83 touchdowns. Johnson also owns the NFL single-season receiving yardage record with 1,964 receiving yards. Calvin Johnson was a Detroit Lions legend with defenses having two corners on him during games.
Detroit will have Johnson honored with other Lions legends in the ceremony, during the homecoming event. This event will have various Lions legends from the past since 2009 and will be a special night. The announcement was also a surprise to Johnson during a celebrity golf event today.
After decades of being inept, the Lions are finally a solid team with great foundations. This upcoming season might be a championship window for the team so they are using promotions to fill out seats for fans to see this Detroit Lions legend.
