Derrick Henry 200 Rushing Yards Shy Of Making History

Baltimore Ravens Derrick Henry

While he is a few years removed from his best seasons, Derrick Henry is going to a top-five offense with some turnover change at the offensive line. Still, scheme and talent alone should propel him to the top of the NFL statistically this coming year.

Just the threat of both Henry and Lamar Jackson should open up passing lanes downfield to Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews. We could see a historic year from Henry with the Baltimore Ravens heading into 2024.

Derrick Henry Could Set Records In Baltimore

For the Baltimore Ravens, Gus “The Bus” Edwards had a career-high 13 touchdowns on the ground in Todd Monken’s offense in its first year. If anything, Derrick Henry should reach career highs in 2024, potentially getting to 2017 status. He had 17 touchdowns and led the NFL in rushing touchdowns that year for the Tennessee Titans.

Henry should be the focal point of this offense, as he will be the “Easy Button” in the offense in the red zone and short yardage opportunities. The big-play back has plenty of explosive runs to display at M&T Bank Stadium, entering his ninth NFL season.

Ravens’ Rushing Attack Should Be a Top Unit

This backfield in Baltimore might be impossible to stack the box against. First, you have two-time MVP Lamar Jackson in the backfield, who is lighter than and faster than ever. Second, he is handing the ball off to an unstoppable force like Derrick Henry. Having one of the best dual-threats at quarterback, and then a rusher like Henry will give opposing defenses headaches.

At 6’3″ and 247 pounds, the Alabama bruiser was like no other coming out of the draft. He set records with the Tennessee Titans, according to Stat Muse, and is looking to make waves with the Baltimore Ravens. His second team signed him to a two-year, $16 million deal worth up to $20 million. This is with a $9 million guarantee in 2024 for Derrick Henry, according to Spotrac.

Henry Potentially Surpassing Hall of Famers

30-year-old Derrick Henry is a future Hall-of-Fame rusher with his stacked resume. The 4-time Pro Bowl and 2-time All-Pro, Rushing Yards, and Rushing Touchdowns leader makes him a prime candidate for the first ballot. The former second-round pick from 2016 was at his best in 2019 and 2020. However, new heights could be on the horizon for a player likely hanging it up in a few seasons.

Henry is just one 200-yard rushing game away from breaking Adrian Peterson’s and O.J. Simpson’s record of 6 games. The new Raven even has four 200-yarders on the ground against his former division rival Houston Texans. In Baltimore, “The King” Derrick Henry will likely reach his 7th game of 200 rushing yards, becoming one of the best running backs of this generation.
