Denver Nuggets Make History In Portland Trail Blazers Win

Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets had a wonderful game last night on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers. History helped them prevail 132-121 for their eighth straight win. Denver became the first team in NBA history to have a player with 50+ points, a player with a triple-double, and a player with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Point Guard Jamal Murray scored a career-high 55 points and Nikola Jokic finished with 26 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. It was the three-time MVPs 25th triple-double of the regular season. Guard Christian Braun finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists in Wednesday’s game. Will this trio and the Denver Nuggets be able to carry this momentum into the second half of the regular season?

Denver Nuggets Season Summary

It was a strong first half of the regular season for the Denver Nuggets. They are 36-19 and the third seed in the Western Conference. Denver has been led by a tremendous offense this year. They are third in points per game, leading the league in field goal percentage, and fourth in three-point percentage. Their tremendous offense was on display last night against the Trail Blazers.

Denver’s defense, while still solid has been the weaker part of the team this season. They are 24th in points allowed, 12th in opposing field goal percentage, and 17th in opposing three-point percentage. If the Denver Nuggets could improve their defense slightly, another NBA title could be on the horizon.

Final Thoughts

Given last night’s performance, the Denver Nuggets will head into the NBA All-Star break on a high note. Jokic is the only all-star on Denver’s roster this season. The Nuggets return to the court on February 20 against the Charlotte Hornets.

Even though the Denver Nuggets are one of the best teams in their Western Conference, their title odds are not as high as they arguably should be. They have the fifth-best title odds in the NBA. It will be a sprint to the finish line for the Denver Nuggets and the rest of the league as they try to win another championship.
