Manchester United won 3-0 when they hosted West Ham in Week 23 of the 2023/2024 Premier League, on Sunday (4/2/2024). However, the Red Devils’ victory had to be ‘paid for’ by the injury to defender Lisandro Martinez.
The 26-year-old Argentinian defender suffered a right knee injury and was unable to continue the match. He was replaced by Raphael Varane in the 71st minute. Regarding Lisandro Martinez’s injury, MU has released a statement. They confirmed that Martinez’s injury was serious and that he would be out for around eight weeks.
According to reports from Argentina, via Gaston Edul and TyC Sports, Martinez suffered a collateral ligament injury in his leg. However, he did not have to undergo surgery. He has undergone surgery this season in an attempt to overcome a long-standing foot injury he suffered some time ago.
