Confrontation at Newcastle Match
In the game between West Ham and Newcastle, which ended with a 4-3 defeat, the Phillips brothers’ entanglement started gathering momentum. After the team had yielded to an opponent goal, following an infringement, which ended up being a defeat, Phillips had to deal with spectator’s wrath, at the exit from St. James’s Park. A video shared on social media depicts the situation when Phillips shoved his middle finger at the fans after they were heckling him with their abusive words. It was to show that the fans had been aggrieved because of the poor performance of the player.
Moyes Stands by Phillips
In response to the situation, David Moyes said it was not wise to criticize Phillips but instead offer support, as he was young and vulnerable. Even Moyes, the current team manager, did not exclude Phillips as an unfit player but insisted that he remain talented. He adds that his club experience and international potential, are more than enough qualities to turn him into a good player. However, this task is not an easy one. Moreover, Moyes does not mind this fight because he wants his player to become the one who can bring good to the club.

Phillips’s Loan Spell and Performance
Kalvin Phillips transferred to West Ham United from Manchester City in January, forging wide dreams of resuscitating his failing career. But as it turns out, the time he spent in the club was dotted with mistakes and a loss of form, which kept him out of the list of players for the England team reported by Gareth Southgate. Nevertheless, Moyes was undaunted to continue the discussion with Phillips about fetching his talent during the balance of his loan period.
Support From the Club and Fans
Moyes often talked about requiring togetherness within the club and among the fans. He summarized that, like any other human being, Phillips is subject to instances of ups and downs just as any other player would. Hence, he challenged the media to exercise understanding and to award him with patience. After the long injury has finally healed while Moyes challenges the team to get ready for upcoming games, he calls on the supporters to lend their support to all the team members, including Phillips, who can create a favorable climate for success.
Coming up to an encounter against Tottenham, an upcoming fixture for the team, is all about teamwork and solidarity with the whole team. The message that Moyes passes across depicts the club’s resilience to win against different difficulties and blossom in all their competitions. Having in mind that Phillips experienced several things that were not as positive, as well as taking into account the fact that he encourages him, Moyes is confident that he can use his talent and gives him a chance to find his form within the club.
