This victory marks South Africa’s second consecutive win in the tournament following their triumph against Sri Lanka in the Group D opener.
Opting to bowl first, South Africa’s Ottneil Baartman delivered an outstanding bowling performance, registering his best figures of 4 for 11. His efforts, along with contributions from Jansen and Nortje, restricted Netherlands to 103 for nine.
However, South Africa faced a rocky start during their chase, with Quinton de Kock dismissed in the first ball due to a run-out. Despite early setbacks, Miller’s unbeaten 59 off 51 balls provided stability to the innings.

Miller contributed 48 during a 65-run third-wicket partnership with Tristan Stubbs and that put South Africa in contention. They batted defensively, while Miller cleared the boundary occasionally to ensure the team did not lose the match by a large margin.
Although Stubbs and Marco Jansen departed in quick succession, Miller’s late onslaught, including two sixes and a four off Bas de Leede’s bowling in the final over, sealed the victory for South Africa. Getting in early into the bowling attack as Jansen did at later stages of the series. Aided by two wicketkeepers, the South African bowlers, particularly Abbott and Maharaj, performed the best in the face of the Netherlands’ batsmen – Engelbrecht and van Beek were formidable yet ultimately futile.
