Davante Adams Potentially Tied To Baltimore Ravens

After the Baltimore Ravens signed Derrick Henry this past offseason in free agency, another splash move could be in the making with Davante Adams. Like the Roquan Smith trade from 2022, a similar trade could be in the works, this time an All-Pro wide receiver from the Las Vegas Raiders. However, there are plenty of other teams that will be competing to acquire the services of the 3-time All-Pro veteran pass catcher.

Potential Fit in Baltimore’s Offense from Las Vegas

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo shared an Instagram story from Davante Adams, as he followed up with a quote from Edgar Allan Poe stating: “Believe nothing you hear and half of what you see.”

With Adams and trade speculation to various teams due to this post, this could just be the ultimate troll job on Ravens fans, or something brewing in the coming days or weeks. It can be anything related to Poe or nothing at all like his follow-up said. Still, regardless of salary cap reasons, for the Ravens, it makes a ton of sense to seek a player like Davante Adams.

Teams Interested in Raiders’ Davante Adams

A few teams include the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, and San Francisco 49ers. Most, if not all, of these teams of interest, are potential contenders in 2024 and have either a need for an alpha or could be the best spot for Davante Adams to make a Super Bowl. The Baltimore Ravens are currently 2-2 and went 13-4 last year, meaning that this team checks both boxes as a potential landing spot for the 31-year-old, 6-time Pro Bowler.

Final Thoughts on the All-Pro Wide Receiver

The Baltimore Ravens are a win-now team with Lamar Jackson and Henry, and while Zay Flowers is a good player, he is not an alpha top target earner. Flowers can be a great number two, while Rashod Bateman can fill out that third receiver role and veteran Nelson Agholor as the four. While on paper, that would be a dream All-Star team to trade for Davante Adams, him in the lineup could be the opposite of how Baltimore wants to win on the ground.

So far, we have seen two games where they are forced to throw more and keep up, or due to the defense, have to throw. But in their most two recent games with massive leads, they have been all ground and pound with Henry, Jackson, and even Justice Hill. Adding a true number-one receiver could be interesting or potentially disruptive to their group dynamic on offense.

At the same time, there is no possible way Todd Monken will be able to maintain big leads in every game throughout the whole season. While I am sure the team would love rolling with the 30-year-old All-Pro this much, it is hard to control games in that way week to week, whether it’s on the offense or defense. You would think opposing defenses would gameplan to stop the 4-time Pro Bowler Henry but recently, that hasn’t happened but there’s always a chance it can get out of hand early.

Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely have been mostly blocking, other than Week 1 for Likely. The minute they increase pass volume by necessity, the pass catchers should be involved. By the time the trade deadline comes around in Week 9 this season, one of those receivers could be Davante Adams and if the Baltimore Ravens can make that happen, he would be the best receiver Jackson has ever had.
