The New York Giants are set to take on their in-state rivals, the New York Jets in their preseason finale on Saturday. This rivalry, also known as the “Snoopy Bowl” or “MetLife Bowl” never seems to disappoint as both teams, whether it’s the regular season or the preseason, put up a great game. But will Daniel Jones suit up?
The Jets have announced this week that they will not play any of their starters, including Quarterback Aaron Rodgers as his much-anticipated return from a ruptured Achilles he suffered just four snaps into his Jets tenure. The Giants however have not made any indications or decisions about playing their starters or not in the preseason finale this Saturday after all of “Big Blue’s” starters on both offense and defense played in the first half of their game last week against the Houston Texans. While it remains to be unseen what they will do this Saturday, they should suit up their starters, especially Quarterback Daniel Jones.
Daniel Jones Looks To Build Off Last Week’s Outing

The rust was certainly there for the New York Giants signal-caller. Daniel Jones, who played in his first live game action since suffering a torn ACL nearly ten months ago made some bad decisions with the football.
From throwing a pick 6 while trying to avoid getting sacked, to making another costly turnover by throwing a deep ball down the field late in the first quarter, Daniel Jones did not look sharp early on. While he did start his day against the Houston Texans by completing just two passes for just 14 yards on six attempts, he played much better down the stretch in the rest of the first half for the Giants. He led New York on two scoring drives, was on the same page with his top wideout Malik Nabers, and made a nice deep throw to Darius Slayton that went 44 yards.
Daniel Jones ended his day going 11 of 18 for 138 yards and despite the two interceptions, made some nice throws and looked very comfortable in the pocket and under center. The Giants should be able to see if he can replicate that outing minus the two interceptions against the Jets this weekend.
Good Test For The Mobility Of Jones
Daniel Jones only ran once, but it did go for 12 yards. Overall in the first half of the game Jones played, the Giants quarterback certainly seemed to be mobile with his legs less than a year after his torn ACL. The Giants should want to see more of that out of their quarterback which is why he should play in their last preseason game
It was not that long ago when Jones had 708 rushing yards in 2022 which was the most by a Giants quarterback in franchise history in a single season. He is a mobile quarterback and has used his legs to his advantage ever since he arrived in the NFL in 2019. You would think the Giants would want to see if he can remain mobile every week which is why they should go ahead and allow him to play against the Jets and use his legs more.
Daniel Jones also had 206 yards on the ground last season in just six games he played, so it certainly is something the Giants should keep an eye out for. With his knee looking healthy and also being comfortable and mobile in the pocket in the Giants game last week at Houston, this is again another reason why you need to play Daniel Jones in their preseason finale. It will provide the last one more look to see if he is still the mobile quarterback the New York Giants know he is.
