New York Giants Get Positive News About Daniel Jones

New York Giants Get Positive News About Daniel Jones

The New York Giants are hoping for much better results for their upcoming season. After making the playoffs in 2022, things did not go as planned this past year. Numerous things went wrong for the 2023 Giants, but perhaps the most notable thing that derailed their season was their quarterback, Daniel Jones, who had yet another injury-riddled season.

A year after signing Jones to a four-year, $160 million deal, the former first-round pick played in just six games as a neck and torn ACL ended Jones’ season. The Giants were frustrated that their quarterback failed to play the entire regular season. Jones also didn’t look particularly sharp in those six games he started before his injuries, as he had just two touchdowns with six interceptions and was sacked 30 times.

During the offseason, there was speculation about Jones’ future with the Giants and if he even had one. The Giants reportedly tried to trade up to draft a quarterback in this year’s draft, but it looks like Big Blue is still riding with Daniel Jones after they couldn’t get it done. And after the recent news about their quarterback’s progress from his torn ACL, things may be looking up for the Giants and Jones.

When Jones tore his ACL on Nov. 5 against the Las Vegas Raiders, there were whispers and rumors about whether he would be the same quarterback again or if the Giants would want to keep him. This is a pivotal year for the Giants and their quarterback, and Jones’s latest comments about his rehab so far are something to take note of.

Jones spoke about his rehab process on “Simms Complete,” a podcast on the Bleav Podcast Network hosted by Phil and Matt Simms. He called his rehab process ‘pretty smooth’ with “no real setbacks.

The 27-year-old signal caller spoke more about his progress on the podcast, saying, ‘At this point, I’m doing pretty much everything — running, cutting, everything I need to do.’ This news is very encouraging for the Giants and Giants fans everywhere as they hope Daniel Jones will be healthy for an entire season for just the second time in his six NFL seasons.

Start of Training Camp is On the Horizon

With rookies already reporting to training camp for the Giants this week, veterans, including Daniel Jones, are set to report in almost a week. This may be one of Jones’ most critical training camps of his Giants career. From knee, neck, and ankle injuries that Jones has dealt with throughout his NFL career, he must start his training camp on the right foot.

Despite losing a key player on offense that Jones has relied heavily on in running back Saquon Barkley, a healthy Daniel Jones is still very important for the Giants. Let’s not forget that New York drafted dynamic wide receiver Malik Nabers out of LSU with their first-round pick, and they have other notable offensive weapons. In addition to the aforementioned Nabers, the Giants also have Jalin Hyatt, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Darius Slayton, who they hope can become dynamic offensive players.

Despite losing key players this offseason, there is some hope for the Giants this season, and there are questions about Jones’ durability and whether he can stay healthy. While those are important things to note for New York’s upcoming training camp and the regular season, the Giants quarterback’s comments about his progression from his torn ACL should have Giants fans feeling optimistic about Daniel Jones’ potential this year.
