Dan Hooker and Israel Adesnaya are good teammates in the Cityboxing. Israel Adesanya is one of the great fighters of the UFC Middleweight Division who is going to fight Dricus Du Plessis. Dricus is a tough opponent for Israel but Adesanaya has already won 24 fights out of 27 fights but lost 3 of them so there are high chances of his victory.
But Dricus Du Plessis is not someone to be taken lightly, as he’s the current Middleweight Champion. Dricus has competed in 23 official fights with UFC and has won 21 of them but lost 2 of them. So, overall it’s going to be a tough match for both of them are training hard, one to stay the Champion and one to become the Champion. As Dan Hooker is the teammate of Adesnaya and they train together so, he has given an update about the challenger’s training.
Dan Hooker Fighting Mateusz Gamrot
Adesanya will fight Dricus Du Plessis for the middleweight title in the main event at UFC 305 on Saturday in the city known as Perth which is in Australia. His City Kickboxing teammate, Dan Hooker, is also training hard in the same place. And most importantly they are and he’ll be fighting against Mateusz Gamrot in a lightweight bout.
Dan Hooker on Strength of Teammate
Dan Hooker recently said that during Adesanya’s 10-month break, which is the longest of his career, he focused mainly on strength and conditioning. Dan Hooker not only notices the changes in Adesanya’s physique but also feels the impact during their sparring sessions.
“So honestly, he’s hitting like an ox right now. And hitting harder than I’ve ever seen before. He is looking scary. In all the time off, Izzy did nothing but work with his strength and conditioning coach, lift weights, do all of this stuff.” He also shared his thoughts about leveling up, “By the time I’m ready to go, it will have been a 16-week camp. I had a preseason for this. I’ve never done that before. I want to level up.”
Changes in the Training
Adesanya shared that he made some big changes to his training. Not only the training but also he changed his food, including hiring a personal chef. For intense training and to make his body stronger he also had a “pre-season camp”. He was coached by Abiola Beckley and is now working with High-Performance Sport New Zealand, the team behind New Zealand’s success at the Paris 2024 Olympics. “Our entire gym timetable has been revamped. We’ve kept those things that were useful and discarded others that weren’t. Some things too we’ve just shifted to another part of the week. ”
