The Dallas Mavericks stole Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals from the T-Wolves. While the final score of the game was 109 to 108, it was not so close for most of the game. The first quarter was close, but the T-Wolves ended it with a 6-point lead. Then they extended that lead to 18 points in the second quarter, which was the biggest lead of the game.
The Mavericks gathered some composure and reduced their deficit to 12 points at half-time. Then the T-wolves fired back in the first half of the 3rd quarter and increased their lead to 16 points. The Mavericks turned on their jets and built some momentum. The teams battled back and forth. The Mavericks cut their deficit by 5 or so points, and then the T-Wolves regained momentum.
Luka Doncic Delivers For Dallas Mavericks In the 4th
The Dallas Mavericks put forth a collective effort in the 4th quarter, scoring a total of 30 points compared to the T-Wolves’ 22 points. The Mavericks regained the lead early in the fourth. The game became a nail-biter with a total of 9 lead changes in the 4th quarter alone.
Besides free throws, Luka Doncic scored only 3 points in the 4th quarter, but they were the most important points of the game. With less than 12 seconds on the clock, Luka isolated Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert at the arc. They engaged in a dance, but Rudy couldn’t keep up with Luka’s moves. Luka created the space he needed and drilled a 3-point game-winner to give the Mavs a 2-0 lead.
Honorable Mentions For Game 2

This game was amazing. Both teams had players who stepped up in their own ways, so here are some honorable mentions about players from each team.
Naz Reid, the 6th Man of the Year for the T-Wolves, had one of the best games from the 3-point range. If he had not stepped up, then the game would not have been nearly as close as it was. He scored 23 points and shot .615 from the field. What is more impressive is the fact that he shot 7/9 from 3-point range. He had a final look for a game winner in the last seconds, but couldn’t make the shot.
The Dallas Mavericks’ Twin Towers, Daniel Gafford and Derrick Lively, scored a collective 30 points. Most of the points came from lobs and dunks in the paint. Kyrie Irving scored 12 of the team’s 30 points, with 4 three-pointers in the 4th quarter. This was surprising considering they were his first three-pointers made in this series.
