The Mavericks dropped a 110-96 decision to the Clippers in regulation. Dallas fell to 0-3, while Los Angeles improved to 3-1. Quentin Grimes led the Mavericks with 20 points, four rebounds, and two assists in 22 minutes. Jaden Hardy added 16 points, three rebounds, and four assists in 26 minutes.

The Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers battled it on the basketball court. The Mavericks’ starting lineup consisted of Jazian Gortman, Jaden Hardy, Klay Thompson, PJ Washington, and Dereck Lively II. The Mavericks held a slight 26-25 lead after the first quarter. The Clippers outshot the Mavericks 31-25 in the second quarter for a mere 56-51 lead to end the first half.
The Clippers got off to a strong start to open the second half. The home team took a 20-point lead, 73-53, with 7:04 left in the third quarter. The Mavericks’ increase in scoring failed to slow down the Clippers’ offense in the same quarter. The Clippers led 83-75 after three quarters.
The Mavericks maintained the scoring pace in the fourth quarter but failed to mount a comeback. The Clippers’ defense was arguably on par with the team’s offense. The Clippers won by a final score of 110-96 in the inaugural game at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif.

The Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers preseason game was chock-full of highlights, such as Jaden Hardy’s three-pointer early in the first quarter. Hardy continued to do work for the Mavericks, while Daniel Gafford rocked the rim with a powerful jam in the same quarter.
The Mavericks handled business in the second quarter. PJ Washington had a successful transition attack with noteworthy footwork. The Mavericks’ ball handling was also on point in the same quarter, as Klay Thompson passed to Daniel Gafford, who passed it to Naji Marshall, who appeared ready to shoot the ball.
The Mavericks’ third quarter was less than ideal, but Quentin Grimes’ pull-up shot wowed the crowd. Grimes’ shooting talent is arguably not bad, as his former NBA team, the Detroit Pistons, had one of the worst floor spacing in the NBA’s history.
The fourth quarter wasn’t in the Mavericks’ favor. However, Dereck Lively II amazed the audience when he swatted the ball out of Kevin Porter Jr.’s hands in the same quarter. Lively II’s growth can positively impact the Mavericks’ future NBA championship dreams.
