Dallas Mavericks: Amazing Game 5 Performance from All-Star

While the Eastern Conference teams battled to advance to the next round of the playoff series, only the Boston Celtics qualified.

The Western Conference teams already have three qualifiers, with the Dallas Mavericks and LA Clippers battling hard to bounce into the next round.

This 2023–24 Dallas Mavericks vs. LA Clippers’ NBA playoff performance is one of the most competitive games in NBA history, as both teams go back and forth to qualify for the next round.

The Clippers won their first and fourth games against Dallas, while Dallas won their second and third games, leaving Game 5 to decide who would come out on top.

The battle between these two teams is surreal as Luka Doncic becomes Desmond Doss from Hacksaw Ridges, despite Paul George’s double-double performance.

LOS ANGELES, CA – MAY 1: Josh Green #8 high fives Luka Doncic #77 of the Dallas Mavericks during the game against the LA Clippers during Round 1 Game 5 of the 2024 NBA Playoffs on May 1, 2024 at Crypto.Com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

After the tussle between the two teams, the LA Clippers made history by claiming the greatest loss margin of 30 points against an NBA team, while the Dallas Mavericks came out victorious with a 123-93 point lead.

Paul George and James Harden had a great game in their fourth playoff match against Dallas, scoring a cumulative total of 66 points with 15 assists. Yet in Game 5, their low performance reduced those numbers by 44 points and 4 assists, with fewer field goals and three-point field goals.

Who knows? The Clippers could be missing one of their star players, Kawhi Leonard, who has been injured during the playoff series, as the big two, PG and James Harden, underperformed in Game 5.

Despite the Mavericks slow start, winning 25-24 in the first quarter, they built momentum and dominated the remaining quarter to win.

They could slow down Kyrie Irving, but they couldn’t stop the Luka Game!

Despite Doncic’s injury in Game 3, he proved his worth to his team during the playoffs by bagging a double-double performance by scoring 35 points more than PG and James Harden combined and giving 10 assists.

Doncic told TNT in his postgame interview, “In the playoffs, it doesn’t matter if you win by one or you win by 50; it’s still a good win, but the job is not done. We need to win one more.”

“One more, help me get one more,” a line from Hacksaw Ridge showing the hunger of Desmond Doss to save one more life, is the same hunger Luka Doncic is portraying in his postgame conference when he said they needed to win “one more.”

It doesn’t end here, as Doncic’s outstanding performance makes NBA history.

Luka Doncic sure makes basketball look easy, scoring more than 30 points within 20 games of his career, but let’s not forget his partner in crime, who was on fire with two incredible steals and the coast-to-coast finish, scoring 14 points with 6 assists.
