Dallas Cowboys: Most Valuable Sports Franchise As America’s Team

Dallas Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones

The Dallas Cowboys are the most popular franchise in the National Football League. They have always been known as “America’s team” throughout their history. According to Sportico, the Dallas Cowboys were ranked as the most valuable sports franchise worth over $10 billion. It is worth noting that the Cowboys are not reaching the expectations and standards that they have set.

As a team, the Dallas Cowboys have not won a Super Bowl title since 1995. With Jerry Jones as the owner, it is mind-boggling to wonder if he is holding out on his players or if he truly wants to be successful as the years go on. Will 2024 finally be there hear?

Dallas Cowboys Worth Over $10 Billion

Dallas is the first sports franchise to be valued at $10.32 billion. Back in February, the number was sitting at 9.2 billion. It has seen a big jump in almost seven months. Jerry Jones has all of the power to ensure that the Dallas Cowboys are in the spotlight as an entire organization.

Apparel such as t-shirts, hoodies, and jerseys are top sellers around the world. Marketing and advertisements are huge as well with commercials on television screens surrounding current players increase that value too.

However, it does not mean that everything is going smoothly on the gridiron. Many aspects of their football team are uncertain as the second week of preseason play is getting underway to start 2024.

Cowboys Contract Negotiations

Jerry Jones has no issues when it comes to voicing his opinions involving contract signings for players. Some of the talk leaves fans confused and makes people question moves that should be made. Cowboys Quarterback Dak Prescott has yet to receive a contract extension for the 2024 NFL season, but his cap hit is down to $55.5 million from $59 million.

Prescott signed a four-year extension worth $160 million in 2021. Star Wide Receiver CeeDee Lamb has held out of training camp and the first week of preseason action as he is a big component to the Cowboys offense. Ezekiel Elliot has returned, but that side of the ball has bigger things to figure out before Week 1 of the regular season.

Cowboys Newest Additions

Positive news has appeared for the Dallas Cowboys as they have brought in two veterans on defense for 2024. Defensive Tackle Jordan Phillips was part of a trade by the New York Giants. Phillips had a subpar year last season with only 35 tackles and four quarterback sacks.

The Dallas Cowboys lost a few players after the 2023 season to free agency. They added another guy in Carl Lawson to suffocate and get to opposing signal callers. With the recent loss of Sam Williams who suffered a torn ACL in the first preseason contest, these moves are crucial for the Cowboys’ defense with Micha Parsons playing at the linebacker spot rotating sides.

Final Thoughts

The Dallas Cowboys are looking to get back to the postseason in 2024. After their NFC Wildcard loss to the Green Bay Packers a season ago, they are wanting to redeem themselves and finally hoist the Lombardi Trophy for the first time since the mid-1990s. Contract negotiations are still in process as there are a few short weeks before the new season begins.

Dallas is indeed the most valued franchise in sports, but are they Super Bowl material? That question is a long way from being answered among all of the other concerns going into 2024.
