Much has been made about the lack of moves the Dallas Cowboys have made this offseason. Lots of moves do not always mean a bad offseason, but the Cowboys are different. They have come up short for the past 30 years in the playoffs despite having some talented teams. Owner Jerry Jones promised the team was “all-in,” but the lack of moves says otherwise. One NFL analyst gave offseason grades for all the teams, and Dallas got a failing grade.
Dallas Cowboys Receive Failing Grade For Their Offseason
Linebacker Eric Kendricks is the only addition the Dallas Cowboys have made this offseason. While they haven’t lost anyone major, they have lost key depth pieces. As it stands, the Cowboys are one injury away from having serious issues. Part of the issue is the lack of salary cap space and the pending extensions of Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons. The scouting department of Bleacher Report isn’t impressed and gave the Cowboys a failing grade.
“I suppose we could give the Cowboys some credit for bringing in an experienced defensive coordinator in Mike Zimmer following Dan Quinn’s departure. However, the rest of the NFC East has improved, while Dallas has taken steps in the wrong direction.”
The report ended the Dallas Cowboys section by giving them the worst grade possible, an F.
Any Moves To Make?
There are still some quality free agents out there. As we get closer to the start of the season, the Cowboys might be able to nab a couple of players who have not found homes. The easiest way for the Dallas Cowboys to get better is through the draft. However, that is easier said than done. The Cowboys haven’t had a good draft history in the past few years. Jerry Jones and his team need to nail this draft in order for the offseason to be a success.
Ultimately, only time will tell if the Dallas Cowboys did the right thing this offseason. Despite the lack of moves, they still have talent on the roster and should be in contention for the NFC East crown.
