Delhi Capitals defeated Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match on Sunday. Their first win of the season came against Chennai Super Kings. The match took place in the DC’s home ground called Vizag. CSK batters didn’t seem to be comfortable with the pitch while the Delhi franchise was dominant. They continued winning home matches which is a near-perfect trend. Khaleel Ahmed admitted that it wasn’t exactly the ‘home atmosphere’ for the team.
The crowd was in Favor of the Chennai Super Kings
Khaleel Ahmad Wasn’t Surprised that the Vizag crowd was clearly in favor of the Chennai Super Kings. The DC pacer suggested that all the IPL matches will be played at home venue for CSK. Khaleel put in a Player of the Match performance on the day in Vizag in what was a sea of yellow.
“First of all, let me tell you. Chennai Super Kings always play their IPL matches on home grounds (laughs). We also respect that. We enjoy it as well and it is fun as he (Dhoni) is our captain as well,” said Khaleel, highlighting the extravagant support CSK enjoys all across the country.
“But there were a few Delhi fans as well, who came to support us during the match and they would have been happy with the result. Everyone in the squad has a smile on their face, and the mood in the camp is also good after the win,” he further said.
Delhi’s First Win
It was the first victory of Delhi in the season. They lost the first two matches leading them to win the third. Khaleed is confident of the team carrying this momentum forward. Getting on a winning run to make the most of the campaign.
The paces mentioned that “When you win, you get the momentum. The victory reveals our best bits and also the areas we need to improve. So the atmosphere now created has given the answers to those questions,” said the pacer.
CSK Skipper was Shocked
The CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was also thrilled before the game. They saw the support from the Vizag Crowd. Khaleel was seen with a big smile while answering the question. He answered this question during the post-match press conference and went on to make the bold claim. The paces mentioned it as a respect toward their captain Dhoni.
