Cowboys Could Consider Trade for Miles Sanders After Week 3 Defeat

The Dallas Cowboys have themselves in a bit of a pickle after starting the season 1-2. Their loss last week at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens exposed several issues, but perhaps their biggest came as the result of their running game.

To say that if the team cannot run effectively, there’s a desperate feeling that draws fans’ attention toward where the Cowboys are going to find reinforcements. Former Pro Bowl running back Miles Sanders is with the Carolina Panthers now, and his experienced skills could be a good answer for the Cowboys to restore their offense into something that can still keep up in the competitive NFC.

 The Cowboys’ Offense Now

Clearly, after the recent games, Dallas has to reevaluate their strategy on how they operate their offense. In its last game, running backs gained a dismal total of 51 yards on 16 carries—a bare minimum for a team aspiring to a spot in the playoffs. The burden is heavy and terrific on the shoulders of Dak Prescott, who threw 379 yards in the entire game. It is not enough; a good offense should be balanced, and to do that means buckling up on the running game. Fans want both reliability and productivity, especially when it counts.

Sanders arrives after a good season in 2022, toting the rock for 1,269 yards before going on to receive a Pro Bowl invitation. Things did not pan out quite as well in Carolina, though, where he finds himself behind Chuba Hubbard in the pecking order. Still, that does not automatically have anything to say about his upside. His break-neck speed and agility could bring a much-needed boost in the backfield for the Cowboys. Thus, Dallas may need that as the trade deadline draws near after failing to get anything going on offense lately.

Cowboys Eye Miles Sanders for Offensive Boost

Even though they probably aren’t trying to throw all the money of the world at anyone, say, Derrick Henry, due to salary cap reasons, Sanders can help in that manner. His prorated salary is near $4 million, which comes with no money guaranteed beyond this season. It will therefore handicap them not a bit on the salary cap, but rather a smart consolidation play by a team looking to add some more talent to their roster without adding pounds to their books.

Having played four years for the Philadelphia Eagles, he is familiar with division rivalries and pressure that comes with it. He knows what it takes to win at such high-stakes games. If he can get himself back to where he once was, he can easily complement Prescott and the receiving corps, including some bright young talents in CeeDee Lamb. The Cowboys need that kind of experience and skill, but more so as they go through one tough season.

 Conclusion

Trades for Miles Sanders will definitely help them since the running game is not doing so well. Miles has the experience and potential for rejuvenation. Jerry Jones and all who run the Cowboys organization really need to consider this in earnest going into the eve of the trading deadline. It would be the first time fans would feel their team can truly compete with the high ceilings at times. The good news is that making the right adjustments might get the Cowboys back this season, shooting for the playoffs.
