Champion Celtics Find Jeff Bezos and John Henry As Possible Suitors

Boston Celtics

With luxury tax and the Boston Celtics roster about to be one of the most expensive in the NBA, whoever buys the Celtics next certainly has to have deep pockets. Jeff Bezos was named as the next potential suitor for the pending sale of the defending NBA champions but not yet officially. This week Bill Simmons brought up the idea of Bezos purchasing the team and what that may look like.  Currently, John Henry amongst other billionaires is considering their next largest purchase as being what may be a giant cash cow over the next decade.

As the second richest man in the world, most of us use Amazon regularly.  If we aren’t shopping then we are watching, if we aren’t watching then we are sending things via Prime to the people we love. Jeff Bezos has made our world so fluid and at the touch of our fingers, we have access to the most amazing inventory and pricing. Some may argue he is purely about profits but the convenience he has provided the world with his companies is truly remarkable.

Do you remember before Amazon was a regular household name? It was the days of doing all of your budget-friendly shopping at Walmart. Schlepping everything in the car, then out of the car, going to multiple locations to find what you needed, and not to mention shipping things took an exorbitant amount of time. Now Prime members have free shipping to Hawaii and Alaska.

Currently, Walmart’s stock is projected to be on the decline annually, not being able to keep up with the low costs and fast turnaround that Amazon produces. Jeff Bezos is taking over our world one item, one company, one channel at a time, and to be frank, I am ok if he buys one of the greatest sports franchises in history.

John Henry vs. Jeff Bezos

Old World vs. New World- what do the Celtics need to be successful in the upcoming years? An owner who isn’t afraid to pay his roster to perform, an owner who can expand the profits without lowering the expectations of the fanbase, an owner who will do right by the city of Boston. John Henry 2013 bought the Boston Globe for $70 million becoming the third owner of the Globe in history.

The people of Boston have never liked Henry and have criticized his every move, when he purchased the Red Sox he threw out the baby with the bath water and traded or betray-ed the entire New England fan base along with most of the Red Sox roster. We don’t trust him. We don’t appreciate his deep pockets because history has proved that he has spent most of his money proving disloyal to the city itself.

Jeff Bezos on the other hand, while owning The Washington Post, does not have a history in Boston.  He has the pockets we need, he has built our trust over the years with his new-age same-day delivery services and streaming companies. He also owns Whole Foods, IMBd, and MGM making him one of the most powerful men in media today.

Jeff Bezos Champions

The truth is that John Henry is hated in Boston with mildly deep pockets compared to the second richest man in the world, Jeff Bezos. His extensive entrepreneurial focus goes beyond New England and focuses globally projecting that there are many new ideas that New England and Celtics fans alike have yet to even imagine. With the defending NBA champions team for sale and a lot of money to spend on players shortly, Jeff Bezos seems like the right fit for the job. He has grown his companies impressively making him a successful contender for the Boston Celtics.
