Cooper Kupp Makes History Through 100 Games

Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams Wide Receiver Cooper Kupp has put forth one of the best starts in NFL history. He is the first player in league history to have 600 receptions, 7,500 receiving yards, and 50 or more receiving touchdowns over his first 100 career games. He still has time to already add to his historic start as he has only played in 98 career games. Kupp has 614 career receptions, 7,544 receiving yards, and 55 receiving touchdowns.

He is one of the best receivers of his generation. The best year of Kupp’s illustrious career came in 2021 when was a Pro Bowler, Offensive Player of the Year, and Super Bowl MVP. That season, he won the “receiving triple crown” as he led the National Football League in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. He was drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Eastern Washington University. Will Kupp continue playing well in 2024 and beyond?

The Eastern Washington product was sidelined for over a month this season with an ankle injury. Ankle injuries have been a recurring issue as it has kept him sidelined for many games over the past few seasons. When on the field, Kupp has played well. He has had 100+ receiving yards in three of his six games this season, including a 2 touchdown performance last week against the New England Patriots

It has been a middling 2024 for the Los Angeles Rams as they are 5-5, and the injuries to Kupp and Wide Receiver Puka Nacau are a few of the major reasons why. Quarterback Matthew Stafford has struggled this season with his top receivers out of the lineup at various times. He has 13 touchdowns and 7 interceptions this season through 10 games. The Los Angeles Rams need both players to be healthy to make a run at the 2024 NFL Playoffs.

Final Thoughts

According to ESPN, the Rams have a mere 15% chance to make the playoffs this year. Los Angeles has a difficult game tomorrow as they host the red-hot Philadelphia Eagles on “Sunday Night Football.” Kupp dominated the Eagles in his last matchup against them exploding for 118 receiving yards on 8 grabs in Week 1 of the 2023 regular season.

Kupp will need to regain his from 2021 for the Rams to turn around their season and make the 2024 NFL Playoffs. With an already historic start to his career, and hopefully health for the remainder of the season, he can continue proving that he is one of the best receivers of his generation.
