As college basketball advances to a new era, the demand for freshmen with the ability to control the game on the court and be more versatile will increase. Also, NBA teams would need this same skill set on their roster.

Flagg Performance At Montverde Academy Varsity

Montverde Academy Varsity in Florida was the high school Cooper Flagg played basketball for in his sophomore and senior years before signing for the Duke Blue Devils in 2024. His contribution to the high-school team is incredible as he was a member of the 2023-24 high school basketball All-American Team.

In his sophomore year (2022-23) Flagg went 23-2 in 25 games played his first season. He averaged 9.8 points, three points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 2.2 blocks. The wingman ranked in the top 50 in Florida for most blocks per game that season.

In his senior year at Montverde (2023-24), the 17-year-old forward improved exceptionally in his game. The Duke’s freshman finished 33-for-0 in 33 games played for his basketball team. 

Also, Copper Flagg averaged 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.7 blocks, and 1.6 steals. He ranked in the top 339 nationally for most blocks per game and top 43 in Florida for most blocks per game that season.

The 6’ 9 forward finished his high school with a national championship title in the Chipotle Nationals Tournament. So, how does this stat translate to his college performance?

Cooper Flagg is an Aspiring 3-and-D Talent

Cooper Flag’s achievements prove that he could be a talented 3-and-D player for the Blue Devils. He plays good defense and  has the offense to impact the outcome of the game.

As a 6’ 9 at 17, Flagg can use this as an advantage to play good defense to get those vital defensive rebounds for his team. Further, the Montverde forward averaged 2.5 blocks per game which proves he could be a good rim protector for the Duke.

Also, with incredible footwork and playmaker skill, his offensive contribution to the Blue Devils’ team should be on an elite level. If Flagg adds an inch to his height, he could become a no-brainer option for NBA teams to draft in 2025.

Cooper Flagg’s Achievements

Throughout his high school career, Flagg averaged 13.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.5 blocks, and 1.6 steals per game. Also, this performance comes with achievements that decorate his impeccable career.

While in his sophomore year as a basketballer, Flagg won gold at the 2022 FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup.The big guy also won USA Basketball’s Male Athlete of the Year in 2022. However, it doesn’t end here.

With this outstanding performance, Cooper Flagg joins the Select Team of elite players that will help in preparing the USA Men Basketball Team for the Olympic games. At this young age, Flagg exceeds expectations with this achievement.
