There were a lot of rumors surrounding the fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler but now things are clear as the CEO of UFC Dana White has made a shocking announcement. Chandler himself has been very keen on fighting McGregor for almost two years now. Their rivalry is so much supported by White that he even made them guest coaches as rival coaches for an entire season of UFC.
The date for the fight was then scheduled for this year’s UFC’s 303 in early June. But McGregor ended up withdrawing from the fight just about three weeks before the event due to a toe injury. To settle the matter and know about the dominant fighter, a new headline fight was scheduled, to get Chandler Vs. McGregor rematch at some other time. But recently Dana White announced shocking news on 13th September 2024 that angered Conor McGregor.
Dana White Big Announcement
Conor McGregor has never done what he said in the past 3 years to his fans, as a result, the fans of McGregor and his opponent are very upset. Fans show their feelings by mocking Conor McGregor on different social media sites while Chandler is done waiting and now he wants to move forward in his career as he didn’t fight any other fighter but just waited for ‘The Notorious’.
Dana White said this in an interview with SpinninBackfist. “Conor McGregor WILL NOT fight Michael Chandler next.” The interviewer asked if ‘The Notrious returns will he fight Chandler and Dana said this. “Is Chandler still going to be his opponent?” Dana replied. “No. No. Chandler said, ‘I’m done waiting. I want to fight.”
Conor McGregor Reacts to White
McGregor announced to comeback after UFC 303, but according to Dana White, McGregor will not be fighting in 2024 and is likely to return in early 2025. According to Chandler, a big fight is going to be witnessed by the fans in the upcoming months but he did not clarify further because that’s how hype is created and curiosity is built in fans.
But there is a higher possibility for Michael Chandler to fight against Charles Oliveira again. Previously they fought at UFC 262. But unfortunately, Olivera knocked out Candler in that fight. This would be the best fight that Chandler could ever accept at this critical time. But Conor McGregor is not happy to see this happening as he might lose a lot of followers because of this.
Conor McGregor wrote this on Twitter. “Chandler saw that takedown getting stuffed and mauled and officially dipped. I’m at the hard rock hotel Florida for the bare knuckle tonight. Got tested earlier today by DFSI. Give me my f*cking date!”
Possible Outcome
The best time for Chandler vs Charles Oliveira would be UFC 309. In the meantime, Chandler would be able to prepare himself after a long break of 2 years. Although there are very less chances for McGregor to return and if he does return, he’ll receive another big fight but not McGregor.
After that McGregor would be looking forward to retiring and focusing on BKFC and his other businesses. What are your thoughts about the rivalry of Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler? Feel free to use the comment section to let us know.
