Conor McGregor is on the edge of a major defeat even before he gets back in the Octagon, although many fans have already forgotten his comeback due to his inactivity. Chandler has been waiting for him for the last two years. Fighting for this event has not been easy over the past two years, and the path to this fight has long met many challenges.
It was believed that the last match opportunity was at UFC 303 but McGregor again was out of the match, the match was near to happening and fans were buying tickets and were happy to see the match but it was canceled because of McGregor’s toe injury. After that, Chandler had no serious reaction to that, but now Chandler has announced clearly that he will not be waiting for ‘The Notorious,’ but he’ll be moving forward in his career, as he has already ruined two years of his career for this fight. Still, now he has made the right decision. Conor McGregor has also reacted to Chandler’s decision recently and discussed different aspects of their fight.
Conor McGregor on Rejection
After rejecting Conor McGregor, Chandler needed to schedule a worthy fight for him, and the best fight for him would be against his old rival, Charles Oliveira. Michael Chandler is now ready to face Charles Oliveira again at UFC 309 on November 16th. Chandler is adamant about his decision and will not change it even if McGregor returns. Dana White also supports his decision. On the other hand, the partial owner of BKFC, Conor McGregor, discussed this matter in the recent match of Joshua vs. Dubois.
The Notorious, Conor McGregor said this in an interview with DAZN. “It will be 2025. We’ll see. My opponent that I had scheduled, Chandler, has gotten matched. It is what it is. I just take it on board and just rock on. My job is just to go to the gym, be in the gym, and be in shape, and one thing is for sure, whenever it is and wherever it is, I’ll be 100 percent ready. That’s all I can focus on right now.”
Conor McGregor as a Free Agent
At the moment, no one wants to fight McGregor but he will look out for other opponents instead of Chandler. As he might look out for other fights he has made it clear that Chandler will still be his priority when he gets back to UFC for now nothing is clear.
Conor McGregor said this about his return to UFC. “It’s the promised land, so we’ll see. I don’t even know. No one in the space knows. I’m the highest-generating fighter on planet Earth right now in today’s space, and I’m not so sure what happens afterward, as I’m a free agent.”
Possible Retirement
Conor McGregor shows that he is eagerly waiting for the UFC, but at the same time, he is also one of the investors of the newly formed BKFC, a promotion for bare-knuckle boxing with plans to have an interesting fight.
Importantly, he wanted to let Dana White and the UFC know that he will retire in 2025. He can leave the UFC without even fighting an opponent, and as of now, the situation looks like this.
